:(

Hi all.....this week has been the worst week of my life. I'm in week 17 and have had a few ups and downs ......low progesterone caught in the 5th week.....unknow object in the uterus 7th week...but other than that, I felt pretty good.

Well, last tuesday, dh and I had just gotten done watching american idol and we chatting about it in the kitchen. All of a sudden, I felt a rush like I just peed myself. Husband screemed "dont look" i looked....blood everwhere...I went to the hospital and was released when they saw the baby was alive and my cervix was closed. My obgyn sent me to a high risk pregnancy doctor 2 days later. He did an ultrasound and told me i had a beautiful healthy girl but my placenta had a blood clot that wasnt going away. He also said my placenta was a little low. He told me it could go either way....I would rest and my placenta would heal or the blood clot would cause more damage, I would bleed and lose the baby. He told me to hope for the best. He put me on modified bed rest. That means, i could go to the bathroom, make some lunch sometimes, and go to the bathroom.

last sat, It happened again....The rush of blood. I was in the hospital again. The doctor did an ultra sound and saw the beautiful healthy baby again. I begged him to look at my placenta but he told me he didnt do that.....he just wanted to make sure my cervix was closed and the baby was healthy.

yesterday, I was released from the hospital. My obgyn begged my insurance to keep me but since my baby had a strong heart beat and i was only bleeding brown blood, I had to go home.

so, in two weeks, I see the high risk doctor again for a level 2 ultrasound. Until then , I can't get out of bed. Im scared and lonely and i can't poo...havent done that in a week. Im the principle of a music school which I closed down for the durration of my bed rest so we have no money. My husband has to work 16 hour days to get us by. I feel so sorry for him.

i feel unshaven, dirty, uncomfortable, worried....so scared, depressed. Im the kind of girl who lived to be outside and running around.

has anyone gone through this and turned out a healthy baby....has anyone had a bleed so early in their pregnancy and delevered normally? It's so sad, guys! if there were some problem with my baby, i would understand!!!!!!! but....for my baby to die healthy becuase of a $$#@#@%# placenta problem....it's such a waste.....such a ###### waste

We call our baby alexandra....alex for short. We were going to name her lilly or melody but considering all she's had to go through, we didnt think she would want a prissy name.

good news is, my cervix is closed...my bleeding is only a little brown. You'd think i would be comforted by this but my bleeding went away the first time too.

thanks for listening. I feel better just getting it out

I'm so sorry you are going through this!! I'm also in the Oct DDC and here if you need to talk. Just stay in bed till your appointment, your baby is what matters most. And maybe if your hubby gets a down moment he could shave your legs for you and help you feel better by washing your hair with a bucket or something.

I don't have any experience with your situation and have just joined this forum as a just in case because I don't know how I am going to be classified. I have a very large cyst in my abdomen that has been growing for 2 years atleast and was just discovered on 4/20 during my first OB appointment. I will be seeing a specialist in a week or so to have it, hopefully, taken care of. My OB doc told me if its not that it will stop the baby's growth since there will be no where for the baby to grow (its that large) and cause other problems for my baby.

But I can try to relate and be there for you as much as possible. My good friend lost her baby at 20w6d 3 weeks ago due to an undectable infection that invaded the amniotic fluid and she had complications since her 13th week. And was on complete bed rest for most of that time inbetween.

Sending you healthy baby vibes and healing vibes!

oh my goodness! you've been through so much!! :dothug: i'm glad alex is okay.

i'm not in your situation and i haven't heard about placenta problems causing such bleeding. that's scary. i do know women who've had placenta previa and gone onto deliver healthy babies. so i will be with you in hoping for the best- that the clot heals and you can go on to deliver a healthy baby!

i am also on bedrest and i can identify with you financially. my dh is working 60 hours a week to pay bills and try to save for the baby when he comes. we will have to pay a lot for insurance and i'm at risk of having a preemie. so i'm alone most of the time and i hate bedrest. I feel like i'm just wasting time until the baby finally comes. the weather's finally nice here and i want to go ride my bike and take walks and just go out! you know, celebrate this wonderful pregnancy! it makes me sad when people talk about how much they love or loved being pregnant and i'm not feeling like that at all!

but i do have a suggestion for the pooping- try taking two colace pills a night. i think it's harder to get your bowels working when you're on bedrest, but its important that you do because you don't want them putting any extra pressure on your uterus or your cervix right now. colace is safe for pregnant women.

best of luck!

I had complete previa, my placenta was totally covering my cervix. I was prepared for a major bleed but made it without having any. The good news is Previa rarely results in loss of baby. Worst case scenario, you'd have to stay in the hospital for a few months so they can keep an eye on you and do transfusions if you need them due to excessive bleeding.
I delivered my boy at 36 weeks by c-section because my ob didn't want to chance me going any longer. He had a week stay in the nicu and is doing wonderfully now.
It's always so scary to hear that something isn't right, I know I was terrified when I heard I had previa. But you just force yourself to do as your dr. ordered and rest. I think that's what helped me to not have any bleeds. It is worth a few months of sloth to keep yourself and your baby healthy. With the warmer weather you can sit on a lawn chair outside with a good book and get some fresh air that way.
I don't know anything about a clot. But with the previa since it's partial you actually have a great chance of it moving up over the next few months. Your baby has a lot of growing to do and that will stretch your uterus and a high percentage of mom's with partial previa found before 20 weeks ends up with it moving out of the way... (I think like 90%).
Please pm me if you have any questions and concerns. I've been there with the previa and know how hard it is to deal with a high risk pregnancy.

hi further...i faced very similar circumstances early on in my pregnancy. i had bleeding throughout the 1st and 2nd trimesters. i wasn't put on bedrest at first; just told to take it easy and that the baby looks ok. then at 24 weeks i started having preterm labor. they stopped it with tributaline shots etc. they finally sent me to a specialist who found the bloodclot in my placenta that had been causing the bleeding. they also told me i had a shoretened cervix and a low-lying placenta.

to make a very long story short, i went on complete bedrest and was told that i would probably stay on bedrest for rest of pregnancy. i also went on contraction meds every 6 hrs. which i've been taking ever since. ...luckily, my placenta moved up, my cervix lengthened, and they now think my small placental abruption w/clot may have healed itself. they will let me deliver vaginally, but will monitor very closely and do c-section at first sign of trouble. it's been a long road, but i'm almost 37 weeks!!

during one of my hospital stays, my roomie had placenta previa - she said the hard thing with previa is that you need to get to hospital ASAP when a major bleed occurs. she lived too far so had to stay in hospital last few weeks. she had her section at 34 weeks (b/c of pre-eclampsia). her baby only had to stay in hospital for less than a week and is healthy and happy!

...like sprouthead, i take 2 colace a day for the constipation...just the softener one. (i think there's one that also has laxative in it.)

i know none of this probably helps with any of your worries but just wanted you to know we're here for you!! feel free to PM anytime. the gals i've met through the JM boards have gotten me through a lot of rough days.

btw, alexandra is such a beautiful name! i wish you all the best. keep us posted...you will be in my t&p's.

You'll get through it ! I had Toximia and a Partial Previa - started bleeding in the 4th month ...after that I was soo restricted and just rested. Pre-term labor started at 30 weeks (bedrest and trebutaline)and I held on till 33 weeks when another bleed occured (just after a set of steriod shots though to help the lung development) and I delived my daughter....she was 4 lbs and stayed in NICU for 30 days but she is sooo healthy and adjusted (see the picture in the siggy -you would never know she was soo early!). REST REST AND REST. Good luck!

Hi there Further,
I just found this forum, and after reading about your condition, wanted to let you know you are NOT alone. I am also on bedrest, after 2 hospitalizations. I have a marginal previa, but the dr said it was now a centimeter away at last week's sonogram. I just had my 3rd bleed ,hoping I won't have to be hospitalized until I deliver,as I am not due until July 18. Bedrest is maddening,I know, I have to take care of a 4 year old boy and try to stay off my feet. Just trying to stay positive and think of the little boy bouncing around in my tummy!
You will be in my thoughts & prayers, just hang in there, I know you can do it!!

It sounds like the bleed could have been caused by the previa, or also what is known as a subchorionic hemmorage. I was diagnosed with a subchorionic bleed at my 9 week u/s (I'm high risk due to LOTS of factors so I get u/s every week at this point-34 weeks; but have had them at least monthly). I never bled out, my body reabsorbed the blood, but my perinatologist warned me that if the bleed hemmoraged I would have a big gush of blood like what you've had. While totally scary, I belong to a yahoogroup of women who have all been diagnosed with a SCH and there are SO many success stories!!!!! It's http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SCHGroup/ if you're interested in checking it out. Lots of really great support and answers to questions. I would definitely ask my doc at my next appt. if that is what you have in conjuction with the previa. While there are no real treatments for an SCH, bedrest is the most commonly prescribed thing. It's not necessarily been proven to help, but alot of women who have had these feel that the bedrest is the main reason that it has healed or that their pregnancies have been successful. Good luck hun!

Further, I will be praying for you as well. I just joined and have posted an almost identical story up above. I wish you the best in your wait for your level II!
