Well, I just turned 40 last weel and thought that everything was going well. Had an ultrasound done to check the babies heart on the 16th and even got a sneak peek at the little one with a 4D ultrasound which was amazing. I had my family over Sunday for an early Christmas and ended up in the labor and delivery unit of the hospital until today. I'm 25 weeks and got put on bedrest today until at least week 35. I amworring about my frame of mind and what I will do to keep from going crazy. Any suggestions?

Do you have a laptop? Or see if your hubby could move the computer in near you. I was on bedrest from 28 weeks on. I had hubby move the computer near me and played msn games and game at pogo.com and I read lmao

Yes, I have the laptop on my lap as we speak - I am just generally very active and this is driving me crazy and it hasn't even started. My mom is here helping out and the in-laws are ready to come help out - but I hate having to be waited on. Plus the brethine makes me so shaky that I don't feel like I can relax.

Do you like the game The Sims? It's a very adictive game lol. You could get the Sims two and by the time you are out of the bed you'll be number1 player lmao! ;)

I'm sorry you are having so much trouble though hun. I'm here if you ever get super bored :D

I was on bedrest for 19 weeks with my last pregnancy. It was a hard time.

To keep busy I wrote letters to the baby, cross stitched, read books, and once it was summer I would sit outside as much as I could for fresh air. Hang in there, and remember it's WORTH IT!

Ughhhh....bed rest! <_<
I was HOSPITALIZED an hour away from home on complete bedrest (which meant one 5 min. shower a day and up to go potty only) from 23 wks. until 36 wks.

I had been on bedrest at home on brethine from 21-23 wks. first, but the brethine wasn't strong enough. My perinatologist put me in the hospital one morning when she saw that I was contracting on the home monitor.
I had to be on a terbutilene pump and have IV magnesium sulfate off and on.

I used a laptop in the hospital and did A LOT of scrapbooking and reading!
I also like the books on tape-sometimes trying to read the actual book required too much patience!

It can get very depressing and feel very lonely at times. I kept a daily journal that I read each year at the time of my daughters birthday!

Keep your chin up! ;)

I was on bedrest from week 28 until delivery, which was by emergency C-section at 36 weeks. I was 19 when I gave birth, and have had kidney problems my whole life, they were causing issues for me. I suggest the things already suggested, I watched WAY too much TV, read ALL the baby books I found (I think I was better informed than some midwives  ), searched the web ALOT, and caught up on all the sleep I'm NOT getting now- and that is my suggestion to you. Of course you can't sleep the whole ten weeks away, but if this is your first child, be prepared for the lack of sleep, it's unlike anything I've ever felt. If it isn't your first child, you know what to expect, so I say sleep as much as you can. I was on the phone alot with friends too, caught up with some people I hadn't spoken to in a while. Bed rest is not easy, hang in there!

I got put on bedrest at week 30 I think it was. Anyways I played lots of crossword puzzles, findawords, watched a lot of t.v., and that's about it, lol!! Feel sorry for ya's though. It's no fun!!

I was on bedress with preterm labor and premature rupture of membranes at 28 weeks. Koltyn only lasted 9 days total without fluid...during that time I was inpatient, on a OB bed, going nuts!! I watched a ton of boring daytime TV and spent most of my time watching the monitors...

I took up drawing lol

I was on bedrest for 13 weeks with my last pregnancy. I watched lots of movies/documentaries from the library and friends and learned patience enough to cross stitch--and actually finish! :P

how r u making out with the bedrest? My 1st son was born at 28 weeks, so the next 2 i was on bedrest from 26 weeks on.... not fun...

I am on bed rest also. It has been 9 weeks so far, they put in an emergency cerclage when I was 19 weeks pregnant. I am 28 weeks tomorrow and hoping to make it as close to 40 weeks as possible! I should be taken off bedrest in 8 weeks when they remove the cerclage and my peri thinks I will go into to labor then. I'm sure by now you have found things to keep you busy. I got a netflix subscription and we moved my computer to my nightstand. Unfortunately I don't have a laptop which would be alot easier and more comfy. I also have read countless pregnancy books and know way too much about everything pregnancy. I have moved on to baby care, now that my edd is getting closer. I really want to learn cross stitch or knitting but don't feel confident in teaching myself. Sorry so long!

I have been on bedrest since week 15. It is definitey hard, but so worth it in the end. I watch TV.. read magazines.. and use my laptop

onefertilemama April 9th, 2005 10:58 AM

my best advice for surviving bedrest is keep busy. you can only watch so much daytime tv before your brain melts! renting movies, reading and the internet are some of my favorites. i'm addicted to the Sims 2 and my dh put the playstation and gamecube in the bedroom so i'm getting pretty good at video games! i just take it one day at a time. it's better for the baby to inside than outside.
