Is this done during home births? My next midwife appointment is on June 3rd. I remember doing it with my first pregnancy (OB) and I plan on asking her when I see her next.

I'm just curious. She doesn't do any lab work at all and I am only going once for lab work. Speaking of, i still need to set up my meeting with the doctor. So, I'm just curious if I need to expect it this time around or not. I still plan on asking my midwife though :)

My midwives dont do it unless 1) I want the test done or 2) I'm showing signs that I might have GD

They can, but whether it's routine will depend on the MW. Ours was only concerned about checking iron because apparently it's not possible to even have a home birth if your iron is below a certain point.

My midwife gave me the option of having a glucose test...I opted for it since I'm overweight and was concerned about GD, although I was negative with my older DD. She had me eat a biscuit with jelly and OJ for breakfast, then did a finger stick - it was SO not the ordeal that it was at the gyno the first time. And it was negative again, thank goodness. ;)

I think most midwives will give you the option.
