Im planning on doing most of my laboring in our bedroom because it will be the most convenient place for everyone.
Generally our room is not a place i go to relax during the day its just a place i pass out in at night. lol. its mostly DH's things in there and rather bare.
but since i started planning a homebirth ive been trying to do little things here and there to get the room 'ready' for my hours in labor.
i want to feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible. we dont have money for actual redecorating but im trying to be creative and move a couple little things into there that i find relaxing and also empowering. some nature pictures because ive always been most relaxed outdoors. and moved some candles in there.
i even made a few inspirational word pictures up that i made myself in soothing colors.
any of you whove had home births or anyone else have any additional ideas?

I think you've got a good idea. My husband was actually the one who did the nesting. It was his way of staying calm during labor, fine by me haha. When I was in labor, I actually had no idea of my surroundings, I was focused on contractions. I was in our bedroom for a bit of my laboring and Jason laid behind me on the bed rubbing my back and putting pressure on my lower back. It was a mess in there (our bedroom is the laundry collect all, ugh) but I didn't care.

Maybe look around for some soothing sound cds or candles. You know what calms you the best :)

What a wonderful idea! I'm trying to do the same, but I just don't see myself in the bedroom a lot during labor. The living room is mainly where I'll be as that is the only place the birthing pool can go.
