Hi Im Meagan (19) mommy to Addisen (10 months on Saturday) and SO to Jamie (20). Jamie is not addi's daddy, but he is just as much apart of her life as her father is, if not more. (Her dad is in nursing school and working so sometimes goes 3-4 weeks before he gets a day off when he can see her)

We are currently in the not trying but not preventing stage of ttc #2. We are planning on actively ttc around march or april. I have always wanted to have a home birth. But with Addi, Dusty was so scared of homebirth plus i was living with my parents and they were totally against it. I have mentioned it to Jamie a few times and he hasnt said he was against it. I think it will take some convincing but hopefully my next will get to be a home birth.

Welcome, you can definitely join us :)

It took me awhile to get my husband on board. The one thing that did it was meeting with our midwife. He asked her about 100 questions and she answered them with full answers, not vague or passed them off. That sold him. He also watched the Business of Being Born with me. My first was a c-section that was scared into me (I was 19 when I had him) and I couldn't find a doctor willing to let me VBAC with my 2nd, so I said screw you all and we just had our home birth this past November.

Feel free to post and ask as many questions as you wish! I'm Marisa, your host. I have 2 sons Gage and Dane, Dane is my HBAC baby :)

Thanks!

With my first I was dead set on going drug free even though I was being forced to have a hospital birth, but when it came time for the dr to ask if I wanted an epi dusty jumped up and said "yes she does" then continued to beg me to get one so i finally did just to shut him up. Even though I had slept fine through the contractions between 11:30pm-7:00am when the dr came in. I think the reason he freaked though was because at about 4 that morning we heard a girl come in and she didnt get there in time for her epi and it sounded like she was being slowly torchered to death with a dull spoon (although I do have to say that thanks to my hospitals thin walls I heard the whole convo between her and the nurse leading up to it and she sounded fine when she was in the waiting room telling the nurse she thought she was in labor and didnt start screaming til they got in the room next to me and the nurse told her that she was fully dialated and wasnt going to get an epi...thats when the screaming began I think maybe she thought the more she screamed the more drugs they would give her )

Haha! I was very vocal this last birth, not a screamer however. The back labor killed me! My first was planning on being natural, however, they gave me pitocin to speed up contractions, which lead to morphine, which lead to more pitocin, to an epidural to more pitocin and you can see where I'm going with this haha. My son was posterior so I was going to labor longer and push longer. It was 23 hours and pushing for 1 1/2 before they scared me into my section.

Addi was sunny side up too lol. The one good thing the nurses did when i was in labor was tell me to push down and not out at first and they massage my perineum to make her turn face down which she did. With all that pushing down it only took me 3 pushes to get her out, and I didnt tear at all. Only a little scrape from her fingernail lol

Lucky. They were getting impatient and found a way to get it done and over with. When I realized it was a lie, I vowed that i won't birth in a hospital unless I absolutely have to.

I cant believe they pretty much forced you into a c-section. I know how you feel about being pushed into things though. I really wanted to go all natural and with a midwife but I was 18 when I got pregnant and turned 19 only 10 days before I had Addi me and her dad had just broke up before i found out I was pregnant and I had moved out of my apartment with my roomates and moved in with my parents again. So i really didnt have the support I think would have been necessary for me to be able to have a home birth, or even a birth with a midwife and not an OB.

I hope you get your homebirth you dream of.

I had my 1st and 2nd in hospital, then 3rd at home with a midwife. My 4th and 5th were home unassisted. I am not studying to be a midwife.
