My midwife will eventually be on Discovery Health

My midwife is seeing a client for homebirth who will eventually be on one of the Discovery Health shows. She just had her home visit which means she's already 36-37 weeks. I don't know how long it takes from birth to airing. On one hand, I don't think there's a better midwife anywhere to represent homebirth on national television. On the other hand, I hate those shows. I just keep thinking, what if she ends up with a transfer? The show will make it out to be a crazy scary emergency when it generally is not.

I am also interested to see if how she acts with cameras on is different than how she is when they're not. I mean, I'm sure her personality will be the same, but rather how she attends the birthing mom. She's normally very laid back and mostly hands off, but I can see needing to be "doing" something if I were being filmed.

Let us know when you find out when it'll air! That would be interesting to watch!

even though they are over dramatized and really play the "scare factor" thing really big... I'm addicted to those shows... I know, it's my guilty 'pleasure.' I just really like watching the baby enter the world, and the mom and dad's reaction... it's so beautiful, even if everything else about the way they presented birth was screwed up. I guess that moment gives me a high.

Anyway, I'll be watching for you to give the air time! :)

I'd love to see it. I hope they keep it peaceful instead of making it seem like homebirth is dangerous. But I guess it'll depend on how the birth goes. Keep my fingers crossed for a smooth and wonderful birth!
