Midwife appointments

Where do your midwife appointments take place?

Re: Midwife appointments

Usually in the clinic. They do a 36 week home visit if you plan a home birth and they see you at home for PP visits up to 2-4 weeks (they see us until 6 weeks PP, im not sure if thats the same in the US or not)

Her home office. She visits at 36 or 37wks to find my house but the other appts are still at her house.

Re: Midwife appointments

With Everett I met at her office. Over the summer I met at one of the midwives house. And had my home visit at. 36 weeks at my house.

With Payson though all my appointments were at my house, I thought it was so weird at first but I ended up loving it! There was no loading my other 3 in the car, it was just awesome!

Re: Midwife appointments

My previous MW did all the appts at our house, it was pretty nice :)

Re: Midwife appointments

At first my thought was, well if they are at my house maybe she isn't good enough to afford an office, ugh I was a mess in the beginning of my pregnancy.

Re: Midwife appointments

It's funny how things work out, I don't think anyone would appreciate coming here for appts as we're still building and use a composting toilet

We're going to eventually break to the MWs that they're gonna be using an outhouse to potty in during my birth LMAO!! Oh boy....

This is the composting toilet we have that is indoors for winter time and emergencies/kids during the warmer months:

Truth be told, DH and I honestly don't mind going to the bathroom outside and there are actually a gazillion health benefits of going potty while squatting. Shoot, there's even a market of these things that you can buy to put on top of your normal toilet to make you squat to do your business:

We all know squatting is good for pregnancy and birth anyway so I should be good.

As for the outhouse, that's a legit outhouse, but we're going to make it a bit "prettier" than your weekend cabin outhouse since it's going to be pretty permanent until we're done building our next house w/ a more permanent/bigger composting toilet.

Here is an example of a "pretty" outhouse. Ours won't be nearly this fancy, but I am going to have some nice ventilation/flowers etc.. to not make it seem so backwoods

Never imagined in a million years I'd make a thread this long on how we poop  LMAO!

It really is quite nice, my best friend jokes with me about going outside and I'm always like "I like the breeze.." :sneak:

Midwife appointments at her little office, 36 week at our home.

Here is a link to great squatting info. I was actually standing on the toilet seat and squatting until my belly got too big!

Re: Midwife appointments

All of mine have taken place at her house (except the 36 week one where she came to mine). She has a huge house and has one section of it set up with 3 bedrooms and huge bathroom with birthing tub so her clients can give birth in her home or theirs. Most of her clients give birth at her house.
