I'd love to hear what you ladies think would be the ideal setting for a birth. You know like candles, soft music, who you'd like to be there and so on...

Well since i haven't had one yet, its more fantasy, but birth tub with gentle soft warm water, tons and tons of candles and lower light, some great music, like earthy sounds, natural sounds, my dh and mom and MIL and midwife, any food i feel like having... everything very laid back and calm.

That's the one thing I regret about my homebirth... not having a water one.... our house is too small and we couldn't have a tub, well at least with Aiden and Lucas. With Xander I could have... but we waited to long to fill the tub and my midwife said Xander would be here before it was even filled. So I missed out on my water birth :(

For me....
The snow would be falling like crazy outside. Cold and icy! It would be so warm and comfy in my home. I would love to labor in the middle of the night, during a full moon. Isobelle would be tucked into her bed, sleeping like an angel. All lights off, candles scented of roses and lavender would surround my bathtub. The tub would be filled to the brim with water just warm enough to match the temperature of my body and my wonderful husband would sit on the floor next to the tub holding my hand and whispering very loving things into my ears. Rubbing the stress from my body, he would walk with me through every step of labor, almost like he was experiencing the same feelings within his own body. When the baby crowns, I would like to get up on my knees and gently guide him from my body myself. Being the first hands to touch his sacred skin and pull him up to my breast immediately for him to suckle from my breast. The rest can wait... DH, my beautiful new child and I all together experiencing the first nursing together and loving every minute of it.

I had a waterbirth in the dark of night. There was a hint of moonlight streaming in, but no one turned on any lights for the birth. It was beautiful and close to the birth of my dreams. My actual dream birth would be another waterbirth at night, but outdoors this time.

Outside, in the dark. In North Carolina. Either in the early part of summer went it's just bearable to be outside at night and the sky is always purple and you can smell the flowers. or late summer when it's still like that but the air holds the promise of autumn. Maybe some torches. On a big blanket in the yard. In my fantasy the world is without bugs, LOL!

If it had to be inside, then I'd want it in winter on a big bearskin rug with a fire and my man. (Sorry wonderfullymade, I'm stealing your idea)

gawd why doesnt everyone do birth at home! seriously, shock to the pic of the screeching machines and running nurses, and IV's and monitors and beeping and tons of other birthing moms, and visiting hours, and.... ugh!

Just dh and I here alone and him tending to my every whim instead of chasing a toddler around while having contractions!

I don't know why others don't do this! It's fantastic. I do have my brothers gf thinking about natural birth now.

I have this recurring dream of a candlelit bathroom with my face over a warm tub of water and my hubby behind me massaging my back and feet. Mmm, that would be so wonderful!
