Hi everyone! My name is Gwyn, and I am considering home schooling. My step son, who lives with us, is 13 and has been in public school. Since moving here (in 2007) he has not really learned much in school, and this concerns me. I don't think I will take him out, but I am considering homeschooling or younger children. Gabriella is 4, and is about to graduate Pre-K. I am trying to figure out the best curriculum. When I taught in a Christian school, we used a lot of ABeka, and I did like the way it was layed out. I am just wondering if there is another program that is better? Thanks in advance for any input!
Re: advise please!
"Better" is in the eye of the beholder. There are a lot of publishers out there who are "comparable" to Abeka, though. It's a great program, so if you go with it, don't tell yourself you're missing out. You could start with it while you look around at others for the following years, too. You may want to look at Sonlight, Alpha Omega, Bob Jones University, Rod & Staff, Christian Light, and (others that aren't coming to mind right now ^_^ ).
