Anyone used How to teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons?

If so what did you think of it? Would this be all you needed for reading and phonics program? I have a copy but have not used it. My 1st grader is reading some.THought maybe I could use this to get her reading better and also for a phonics program but not sure since I have never used it.

Did you like it or would you rather use something else? Do you have to do this 7days a week? From the looks of the book it looked like it. I dont think I could do that. LOL

It's a love it or hate it curriculum. Not much middle ground (other than those who start out liking it but learn to hate it after the first 20 lessons or so). Personally, I don't like it.

I used it for my son and LOVED it. He went from not reading to reading at a second grade level(according to a second grade public school teacher) in less then 100 days(we did more then one lesson a day). I will be using it starting August 8th for my daughter and will use it in the future for my other kids.

I recently required this for 25 cents at a yard sale. I will be trying it next fall with my 5 yr old

From what I understand, it either works exceptionally well with your child, or it simply frustrates them and they cry when you bring the book out...but not much middle ground, lol.

My sister used it with both of her kids and while she said it was very boring, they both learned to read well. Most people say don't throw it away until you've at least tried it, because when it works with a child, it works well. Personally, I looked at it, but was put off and went with Christian Liberty Press's Adventures in Phonics and Explode the Code instead. :p

I used it with my older daughter when she was about six and she was a amth wiz and a reluctant reader. It was OK. Not very exciting for her.

I brought it out for my 2.5 year old and she is doing amazingly well. Since she is just starting to talk we basically just do the letter sounds and the words and skip the writing and everything else.

I think it depends on how you feel about teaching letters. I never liked teaching the name of the letter and then going back and teaching the sound. This was she know their name and the sound they make and the vowels that mahe different sounds wear different hats.

Granted I swear we have the fastest class ever but she is retaining well and is enjoying it.
