Hi ladies

I am planning to start homeschooling my daughter this fall (she turns five in July). I'm very excited about it. I would love all the support, advice, and thoughts other homeschoolers have to offer. I also have a 19 month old and am due in July with a baby boy.

WELCOME!! :waves: Jump right in! Do you have any specific questions?

I'm Chrystal, by the way. I have two boys who'll be doing 5th (ish) and 2nd (ish) in the Fall. We've been HS'ing from the start.

Welcome! :waves: I'm Chantelle, mommy to four, 5 and under. My 5 year old is about to move to 1st grade officially, and my 4yo is asking to start kindergarten work now :)

Re: Hi ladies

Thank you all for the warm welcome :) How did you all pick the curriculum you are using? I am looking into a Pathways Charter School, homeschooling through them. I definitely want to utilize a computer and the Internet. Hands on stuff for science like planting a garden. I want to instil a love of reading and music in my children. I am a Christian but I am not concerned about working that into schooling. That can be passed on outside of school hours. I'm not opposed to keeping it separate though. Education is incredibly important and I don't want to screw it up!

Trial & error is how I chose our curriculum. You have to look at your teaching style and the child's learning style, and also your teaching philosophy. You have to look at cost as well. To me, it's better to spend a little more on something that can be reused for siblings and then sold than to spend a little less on something that will have to be replaced for child #2 and can't be sold later.

Mostly, just ask questions here (what are good math programs for a child who ____), and then research those suggestions with something like this: http://www.cathyduffyreviews.com/.
