Notification Question

I have my forms ready to take to the BOE for my district in Ohio. As soon as my daughter is finished with kindergarten at the public school I plan on taking them up there. I was wondering if anyone knows...am I supposed to unenroll my daughter from public school? Is my intent to homeschool notification good enough? I was thinking after I recieve my notice of being excused from the public school for homeschooling then maybe I should go to the elementary school to make sure she is unenrolled. Has anyone done this before?

Re: Notification Question

I would go to the school and request her records, for sure. The BOE can tell you specifically what needs to be done, but yes, it's best to go ahead and unenroll just to cover yourself. Make copies of the forms, give one to the BOE, one to the school, keep one for yourself, and also MAIL (with confirmation of receipt) one to the BOE just to show they got it and can't say they didn't.

Thank you so much! I will feel so much better once I cross over "that bridge".
