Using JustMommies for the first time can be a bit confusing, especially if you’ve never used a message board before. We have a tons of forums as well as member-created social groups. This can be a bit overwhelming and hard to navigate at first. We’ve created a newbie guide to help you get started and answer the most frequently asked questions from our new members. If you have any questions that are not listed in this newbie guide please post them in our Need Help forum. A Moderator or Administrator will be sure to answer your questions. Note: if you are using AOL or another browser you may need to enter using Internet Explorer to get in. You must be a registered member of Justmommies to use our chat room and registered members with fewer than 10 posts are not permitted to use chat.

Reporting Problems
To report a problem at our chat please send a private message to any one of our moderators. Christine (Twinkle) is our chat coordinator. If she is available send a private message to her first. If she is not available, look at the online list at the bottom of the board. All of Justmommies Moderators names will be in purple. Send a private message to anyone of our moderators or send an email to boards@justmommies.com if you can not access the private message system.

Chat Hosts
Chat hosts are in charge of leading and promoting their board's chat. Chats last for one hour and we ask that hosts are available for the duration of their chat. Chats are scheduled weekly, biweekly or monthly. You do not have to host a board to lead a chat. If there is a topic that you would be interested in adding to the chat schedule send a private message to Christine (Twinkle) and let us know about it.

What is a host?

A host is a board leader; someone who is positive, energetic and supportive; someone who is enthusiastic and passionate about their board subject and wants to share that interest with others. Hosts keep JustMommies fun!

How much time does it take?

Hosting does not require a lot of time. On average this should only take around a couple hours a week. We realize there will be occasions where you will need time off to go on vacation or that you may have things going on in your personal life that require you to take time away from your board. We ask if you are going to be away for any length of time that you notify an administrator. As a host, we expect you to post on your board regularly and not just visit the board. At a minimum we expect hosts to post 3 to 5 new topics per week. Due to the high volume of activity on the Trying to Conceive boards, Due Date Clubs and Playrooms we ask that the hosts of those boards be active at least 3 days a week and make a minimum of 20 replies and 3-5 new topics spread amongst that time period. These are minimum requirements for hosting. The JM Host’s role is to be a leader in her Community and play an active role. We actively work with our Hosting team to offer support and guidance to help you improve your leadership role. However, we reserve the right to dismiss Hosts that are not meeting the needs of their Community based on member feedback or low activity level.

What are some of the host responsibilities?

A host should post new topics, reply to others and welcome newbies. A host should keep their board flowing and moving. Hosts also keep things organized by requesting stickies and subforums for their board. We also ask that hosts assist our moderation team by anonymously reporting posts that violate JM's Terms of Service.

We do ask that members are active on a board before they are added as hosts and for due date club boards that you are due in that month.

Hosting dismissal

Hosts that do not abide by JustMommies Terms of Service may be removed as hosts. Generally, you will receive a notice and/or suspension before this would occur; however, this is decided at the discretion of JustMommies administrators.

If you not meeting hosting requirements, an administrator will send you a hosting responsibility notice via pm informing you that you are not meeting the hosting guidelines and checking to see if there is anything she can do to help you. If you become inactive on your board for one month you will automatically be dismissed as a host unless prior arrangements are made. We are very understanding about family emergencies so please discuss things with an Admin if you need some time off.

Members must have at least 100 posts and be a member for 30 days prior to hosting. Members must also be at least 18 years old to host. Further, members who have had two or more infractions in the last 6 months are ineligible to Host a board at JustMommies.
