Yes I did. I made her an 11x14 collage picture of all the grankids and put it in a nice frame....her response was "you know I'm running out of room on my walls for pictures". I think all future gifts will be a sock full of rocks. Though my husbands says she would just open it and say "well I don't really have room in my garden for any more rocks"....THIS WOMAN INFURIATES ME! I was always taught to appreciate the gift no matter what it is. Now what grandmother wouldn't like a picture of all of her grandkids!

No I didn't. I am leaving it up to my DH because I am tired of doing things like that anymore for his mom. Last week he called her on her b-day and had the kids leave her a b-day message since she wasn't at home and he asked her to call when it was good for her because our oldest wanted to talk to her but she never called back so he called back and left a another message the next day and still nothing. Before I would bug my DH to call but not now.
As for pictures, she asked me to send some over email which I did and I asked if she wanted me to change the size because she has dial up and she said no and asked for more so I sent more and then she emailed back saying from now on she would delete any email from me with an attachment because it took to long to load, this was months ago though.
mom2nate-- i bet that drives you crazy!

Re: Did You....

I bought a basic card and signed our names and sent it. If my DH wanted more for his mom then he can do it himself as far as I'm concerned. I took Sam shopping for my mom and bought her one of those cards where I could record him saying "Happy Mother's Day" to her. Maybe it's a double standard, but I don't feel like doing it for my MIL too. I wouldn't say a word if DH bought and shipped her something for Mother's Day or her birthday. I refuse to do more than a basic card though, it's his mom.

i don't think it's a double standard, at least you got her a card, that is more than what I did :).

I have two mils. I bought a gift for dh's step mom because she bought him a birthday present (may 9th). We got her a potted plant and she said she loved it. It went over well. I didn't even get my own mother anything (she doesn't get me anything either). We both understand that finances are tight. We talked on the phone for a while and then my daughter got to talk to her too.

We sent my Mom a card and took one to MIL on Saturday. With DH unemployed and us expecting #1, both said that they wanted us to focus on getting stuff for the LO.
