Amber teething necklace

I'm not too familiar with them but have heard good things. I do have a couple questions for you experts though!

Is there only one type of necklace or are there several different ones? If so, which do you prefer?

One website said not to use under 36months (what kid is teething then?!) and another said better used at 3-4months. So is it okay to get Marshall one?

I'm not sure if he is teething but he's not been wanting to eat hardly, his nose is a bit runny and he chews on his hands and nipple of his bottle ALOT! Maybe he's just fighting a cold, but figured if it was safe for him to have one then it wouldn't hurt either way.

I don't have any advice but looking forward to anyone who does. I will be getting a Baltic amber one for sure before too long!

They say that lighter colored amber is more effective than darker.

My daughter had one and started wearing it at 3-4 months. I'm not sure whether it helped, to be honest, but it was cute and culturally-relevant (my husband is Baltic - Estonian).

I'm thinking of trying the one I posted a link too. I'm just trying to figure out why it's so cheap when others are around $25.

I haven't read anything on this. What are the benefits of wearing an amber necklace? Does it help with teething?

Supposedly the amber (or something in it) is a natural pain reliever and anti-inflammatory. Keeping the am dr beads against baby's skin for short periods of time is said to help relieve the discomforts of teething.

Wouldnt a baby pull on the necklace though? Or do you put it around a leg or something?

Ember likes to grab her onesie around her chest/belly so she might grab at a necklace if it was there. Maybe she would ignore though. Hmmm, I will have to look into this. :)

Re: Amber teething necklace

You can put it around their neck, but only recommended for short periods because of the pulling factor. The necklaces are usually made to break away easily if pulled, to avoid chances of injury to the LO. Also, the beads are usually knotted in-between (on better ones) to avoid the beads scattering everywhere should the necklace break.

That being said, you can also wrap around baby's ankle and put a sock over it too.

My son wears one and it definitely helps him! The lighter color and raw, unpolished ones are supposed to be best. Get it small enough that it doesn't go over their chin to their mouth. DS never really messed with his, so he just wears it all the time.

My daughter never touched her necklace until she was pretty old. Then she asked me to take it off! I think she had a 12" one?? It's hard to remember. It was knotted in between beads.

Just for fun, here's a pic of her in her necklace when she was about 5mo:

I never had one with my other 2 kids and would be hesitant to try one with Sophia due to her possibly pulling the necklace and it breaking off in small parts. Not worth worth the risk for me however some babies may not pull it .

I've never tried one, but I have a patient who swears it was like night and day with her son once she got his.
