Pumping

So I've been pumping lately and I seem to get only 2-3 ounces. Idk how I'm ever going to build up a stash in the freezer! Is this normal?? I'm EBF full time so the pumping is after I've nursed but usually a couple of hours (like after I've fed her for before she goes to bed).

Re: Pumping

I pump after Ember goes to bed and I usually get about 2-3 ounces at about 10 pm. If I pump all day, I only get about 24-26 oz during the whole day. Sometimes a little more and sometimes a little less. I know I have had supply issues, but I would think 2-3 ounces at night is good, especially if you just added a pumping session.

Yep totally normal. Especially if you've been only EBF, you're now asking your breasts to produce extra milk that they're not used to making. The more you pump the more they'll get used to making the extra and you may be able to get a bit more after a while. You can also try things like oatmeal or taking fenugreek and drinking mother's milk tea to help increase your supply if you are wanting to build a freezer stash quicker. Adding more pumping sessions can help too, I get more when pumping in the mornings.

Re: Pumping

I loathe pumping!!! Ugh!!! I've got about 24 oz in the freezer and the rest I use an ounce at a time to mix with cereal. Today I pumped 6 oz off of one side but that was first thing in the morning and she hadn't nursed on that side. I've got to get more for the freezer though. A girl I went to high school with was killed in an accident a few weeks ago. Her 5 and 2 year olds survived. :( it has made me realize that I have to plan ahead for my baby if something happened to me any time in the next several months. As horrible as that is...at least my baby would still have my milk and my hubby would know what to do.

Re: Pumping

I hate pumping so much that after 7 months, I find myself skipping a few and my milk is drying up. I made it my goal to pump extra today and try to reverse the cycle. I have a freezer full, and have been having to supplement 2 formula bottles a day for the last month, plus defrost some. I need to get my production back up!!
