100 Day Burpee Challenge
 
Has anyone else heard of this? I am so starting this tomorrow!

The Rules:
- Do one burpee on Day One. Do two burpees on Day Two. Continue adding one more burpee each day. By the end you will have done 5050 burpees (that's a lot!).
- If you miss a day, you can make up that day's burpee count the following day (e.g. if you miss day 5, on day six you have to do 5+6=11...if you miss day 90, you have to do 90+91=181). If you miss two days in a row, consider your challenge to be over, take a couple days off and start again at Day One.
- You don't have to do them all in a row, especially when you get up there, spread them out over the day
- Follow the rules and most importantly: don't miss a day!

You can youtube how to do one...this is the technical way to describe it but I find seeing someone do one easier to learn:
-Start in a low squat, hands flat on the floor in front of you.
- Jump your feet back so that you're in a high push-up position. ***Beginners can walk each foot out instead***
- Complete a full push-up. ***Beginners can plank for 3 seconds instead***
- Jump feet back to the starting squat position.
- Spring up off the ground and clap your hands over your head.

I started one while I was pregnant and only made it to 22 before I had to stop at the end of March.

The only issue I have with it is that there are no rest days. The body needs a chance to heal.

I would do a Monday Burpee Challenge if you want.

10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100

Hmmm....I like that it builds up each day, but I'll do a Monday challenge and count those as them for that particular Monday, since it will always be greater than how many I have to do (going up by 10's and 7 days in a week).

That said...Day 1 done...it was actually hard because I did 20 of them cold turkey yesterday at my exercise class and my upper abs are on fire today.

Oh hell no. Planks are kicking my arse. I don't know if my core isn't strong enough or if I'm doing them wrong but every time I do anything plank related my lower back is KILLING me the next day.

I'd be glad to join in another challenge that isn't a plank exercise.

Want to start a sit up or crunch challenge to strengthen our cores? Similar to 100 days or once a week if that's better? I'd be up for that as well.

OK I did my burpees today at the gym along with my running because I didn't feel like lifting weights.

I did 50 - 5 x 10. The last 10 were brutal. My wrists aren't used to taking my weight anymore. Oh yeah, and I weigh 30 lb more - that might have something to do with it.

Melanie, is your back muscle sore or real pain sore? If it's your muscles then it is probably good to keep at it and build up the strength.

I'm sick so I'm doing today's with tomorrow's for my 100 day challenge (hoping I'll be better!) which will be 9 plus one extra ;) You're way ahead of the game!

I think I'm just not strong enough, I guess. I know I've built up some muscle in my core, I can feel it. But most planks leave my back hurting. I do try to do some but I'm going easy on them.

That's why I like the burpees, you don't plank for long.

What's kicking my butt (literally) are "firehydrants", where you are on your hands and knees, and lift your leg like a dog peeing on a fire hydrant....do 20 on each leg (not alternating) twice, and your glutes (sp?) are on FIRE! I love it!

Yeah, fire hydrants are hard! They remind of the Tae-Bo moves from back in the 90s.

How are you going with this, Jess?

I did 55 today. Going up by 10 is a little too ambitious for me.

I did machine work so I would have enough energy to do these burpees too.

I did 11 x 5. Doing them in sets of 5 was easier than the sets of 10.

I fell off the wagon when I got sick last week. Going to do 20 today though since its week 2!

Checking in.

I did 64 today - 8 x 8 and ran 7 intervals of 2 minutes @ 6mph between sets.

Holy crap - it is so tiring!

I'm being a lazy bum over Christmas :p I've fallen off this altogether. Hoping to pick it up tomorrow...Aiming for 30!

Did you manage to get them in, Jess?

I did 77 today between 9 and 12. It is a lot easier to do them spread over 3 hours than what I have been doing.

Hopefully I can get to 100 in another 2 or 3 sessions.

Ahh, no, I'm all confused on the days of the week with Kenny being off work lol. I may get to it later this week...I will try! I'll let you know.

WTG for you by the way, I'm definitely not up to 77 yet. I agree doing it over time too, that's the only way I'll be able to get them in!

OK, I just wanted to get this done with so I did 100 burpees today.

5 sets of 20 and I took breaks of 6 minutes in between while riding on and exercise bike reading my book.

I may be fat but I am still fairly fit. :)

Ahh, lucky you! I did 30 yesterday at my exercise class, and meant to do more when I got home, but forgot :(

You did amazing!!!!! I'm going to keep working on this, it will just take me longer!
