Christmas traditions

What are your favorite Christmas traditions growing up? Do you plan on continuing them?

Christmas eve service at our church followed by finger foods at my parents and my mom reads The Night Before Christmas as well as the Christmas Bible stories of Jesus' birth and then bedtime....we still follow these traditions even with the grandkids

Re: Christmas traditions

Many of our traditions centered around my grandparents so it feels different now. This will be the first year without my grandfather and my grandmother now lives in assisted living so she will be with my aunt this Christmas as she was with us during Thanksgiving. Soooo, now we all get together at my house on Christmas eve (my parents, sister and her boyfriend) and have dinner and we all open up new pajamas to wear that night. I make cinnamon buns and give them all a pan to make on Christmas morning.

I also started the tradition last year of Santa leaving a new book on Maddie's bed so when she wakes up Christmas morning there is a new book waiting for her to open.

Re: Christmas traditions

Our traditions now started when my sister and I started having kids. We have always done our big dinner on Christmas Eve. That has stayed, but now we open presents with my parents and sister's family after dinner. My MIL comes too. Then on Christmas morning, we open presents with just our little family at home. We head over to my SIL's at noon for Christmas Day brunch and presents.

We always go to Christmas Eve service at church with our extended family. The younger kids in the family usually have some role in the Christmas story play. Also, since I was little, it has been a tradition for all the kids to open one present on Christmas Eve. It's always pajamas and slippers. Then all the kids put their new jammies on and take pictures by the Christmas tree.
