fabric softener for baby?

I bought detergent for baby , but is there a fabric softener safe for baby? Do you just not use any? Use regular?

I don't use fabric softener anymore. I use to for our clothes but my dr said not to use it on kids clothes bc it can irritate the skin pretty bad

I do not use it. I use Charlie's Laundry soap on all our clothes :D

I don't use fabric softener either. But then again maybe i'm the bad mom here cause I've never washed DDs clothes in anything other than our detergent either....

Re: fabric softener for baby?

I've always used gain liquid detergent and gain fabric softener. I used the baby detergent when dd was a newborn, but it actually irritated her skin while the gain didn't. Super weird. I've already washed all Coy's clothes in our regular detergent and softener and we'll just go from there.

I just bought some and after my tide and rockin green are gone that is my plan too. Do you have hard or soft water? I am wondering how it works for people with a HE front loader with hard water...

I don't use fabric softener or dryer sheets on DDs clothes or it irritates her skin and she gets a bad rash. All I use with her laundry is Dreft and I know a lot use other sensitive skin formulas but I love dreft. I do add oxi clean to help with tough stains....its a miracle worker on spit up/drool/poo stains from when they are little.

I was wondering this, too. I don't use liquid fabric softener, we just use dryer sheets. I didn't use any dryer sheet when I washed the baby's clothes because I didn't know what was best. I might just get a small box of free and clear and be done with it.

I don't use fabric softener at all. I've been sensitive to it, dryer sheets, and any scented laundry detergent since I was little. My oldest inherited my sensitive skin so we just use Free and Clear.

I don't use any fabric softener; just dryer sheets. I bought the free and clear type dryer sheets as well as free and clear detergent.

Re: fabric softener for baby?

No softner or dryer sheets here either. dH and B1both have sensitive skin, so free and clear only here.

Re: fabric softener for baby?

We couldn't use it for quite a while because my youngest had a reaction to whatever we were using. So, I'll probably stop using it for awhile, on our clothes and baby's, until we are sure this baby doesn't have the same problem.

We don't use it either.

I haven't gotten around to trying vinegar for this yet but I've heard/read good things. Here's a good link:

Re: fabric softener for baby?

i use regular detergent and fabric softener for us and DS
i will do the same with DD and only change if there is any issues
we did the fragrance free stuff/baby stuff w/ DS and i felt like i could still smell the puke and stuff on his clothes even though everything was fully washed

Re: fabric softener for baby?

We just use original tide and no fabric softener for all out clothes, even diapers.

Re: fabric softener for baby?

I don't use any fabric softeners either. I use Rockin' Green right now and my clothes are pretty soft and there's no static. When I use regular detergent I have to use something Free and Clear, both DS2 and DH have sensitivities to regular detergents and softeners.

Re: fabric softener for baby?

I wouldn't use a liquid/chemical fabric softener. I would just purchase a dryer ball. It bounces around in your dryer and beats the clothing soft, lol. Cheaper, too.

Amazon.com: 6 Eco-Friendly Wool Dryer Balls -Set of Six 100% Handmade, Natural and Unscented: Everything Else

You can make these yourself as well. There are directions online and it looks super easy. You just wind the 100% wool yarn around until it is as big as a tennis ball and then wash in a bag on very hot in your washing machine to shrink/compact them and then voila!
