Non Stress test questions

I don't know what to expect. Will I find some results there or do I have to wait for doctor? Is it a big deal if I go alone or will I want support of SO or a friend? So will still be at work. Thanks

It is really easy. They will hook you up to two monitor while you either sit in a reclining chair or lay on a bed. They will monitor movement and fetal heart rate (mine did not monitor contractions). They want to see a good baseline between 120 and 160. They also want to see some accelerations (heart rate increase above normal) when there is movement. You are likely to be given a button to push to record movement. You only need someone with you if you want company.

Yeah it's no big deal. I did one last week. YOu should more than likely get results immediately, provided you have the test done before the doc comes in to talk to you.

Just so you do not worry. A child has sleep wake cycles. Ellianna is a real wiggler. Of course today she did not move the first 20 minutes. They used a buzzer to get her to start moving in order to view the accelerations. Do not worry if they do this. It is common. They simply do not have 2 hours to monitor you. They use a loud noise to wake the child. It is completely safe. It does not mean anything is wrong. If something would be wrong, they will run in really fast. I am certain you will be great.
