My venture into cloth diapers

We started CDing Lena on Tuesday after the meconium seemed to have passed. I am pleased to report that DH and I are both loving it. We went with the Softbums AI2s and they are really as easy as disposables. We have only had 2 leaks and bother were the result of operator error- DH didn't make sure that the entire insert was inside the shell, so with part of the insert sticking out, pee leaked. The diaper sprayer has been great with cleaning the poop off of the inserts and the laundry really isn't that big of a deal so far. I am really happy with our choice up to this point.

Just wanted to share and to say thanks! I never would have even given CDing a thought before this DDC, but you all provided so much great info and encouragement. So thanks for giving me the push I needed to take the plunge and for answering all of my million questions. I really appreciate you all!

I tried it for a day and had a couple leaks and decided to stick with disposables for now. it seemed maybe his legs were to skinny. and he sometimes poops with every feeding and he seems to always be wet, so I think cloth would be a little much right now.

One of the big reasons I went with the Softbums is that the legs have adjustable elastic so that you can make it fit your baby, fat or skinny legs so that it won't leak. I did not find anything else that you could customize the fit like that and I figured it would be amazing as she grew. Lena's legs are rather skinny also, but these work and they get much smaller than we have them set to. (Not that I mean to judge on your choice to use disposables. Everyone has to do what work for them. DD never had anything but disposables. Just thought I would mention this in case you decided you wanted to try again later.)

thanks. we might try again later once he's a little bigger and once his diaper changes are a little more regular. I'll keep that brand in mind.

What kind and size diaper were you using?

I'm glad you are loving it! Fluffy butts are stinking cute!

I'm excited to give it a try. I'm glad you fellow first-timers have had such good luck with it.

newborn all in ones. lil joeys (although these actually seem maybe too small), thirsties, swaddlebees, and some homemade ones I gotfrom etsy. I really didn't try most of the homemade type ones because after getting leaks with the name brand ones I just went back to the disposable.

exciting! We haven't tried yet because everything we have is pretty big. I think once they start gaining weight more we will be able to try some of our smaller prefolds.
