Our other "kids"

So how is everyone's four legged family members handling the new babies? Who has jealous fur kids? Who has lost their furkid to the new baby? Pics?

My kitties love the little guy. They have learned he is safer than DD who is in the chase them stage. My dogs..well the girls love him and want to Kiss him. Malachai (my guy that got hurt when we were all pregnant) is not so sure of Tristan and is a little jealous and just looks at him all pouty. But he still let little guy kick him in the head repeatedly lol(if you are on my FB you probably seen pics)

My dogs don't act any different. I think they are used to me bringing babies and other small creatures home lol. My pit bull is too glued to Jaleigh's hip 24/7 to even give Mckinley the time of day. My mutt likes to lay on the activity mat next to McKinley but mostly he doesn't really care one way or another. One of my cats is crazy and only likes DF so she definitely isn't interested in the baby. My other cat is the only animal in the house that seems fascinated with the baby (she's also the only one we have acquired since having Kiefer so she's never been around babies before). She likes to lean over my shoulder and lick McKinley's hair while I'm nursing

Our two dogs are used to babies at this point. Our Westie gets grumpy. She used to be my baby and just isn't a fan of kids. She doesn't act aggressive but she tries to stay away. Our mutt is super patient. She loves giving kisses to anyone including babies. At first she was wary when Lily was a baby, but once she hit the toddler stage, our dog realized she could get fed table scraps. She now sleeps in the girls' beds at night and alternates between the two on her own. She's an awesome dog.

This is Henry lounging on our mutt Ruthie. You can see our Westie Sophie in the corner trying to get out of the way

None of our pets act any different. Our youngest cat Sasha does like to sleep on his changing pad, in the bassinet or crib or pack n play when he isn't using it. Drove me nuts to the point I started keeping the bedroom doors shut and put stuff in the pack n play to keep her out of it at night. The cat hair was driving me nuts.

My dog Speckles will come to him every time he makes a sound or a cry...even in the middle of the night. She will lay next to him when he is on the floor for tummy time. She licks his face for good morning kisses and good night kisses.

She is a 2 year old border collie, blue heeler, catahoula mix so she is very gentle with him.
The in laws have 3 other dogs and they don't care. They are used to the baby and don't care if he cries, giggles, or lays in their spots. They just get up and move.

Sadly, my fur baby passed away when I was 8 months pregnant. Molly was such a good little mama cat when Fiona was a baby, and she spent many many hours perched on my growing tummy this time around. I know she would have been wonderful with Finn and I'm sad that he doesn't get to grow up with her like Fiona did.

My cousin - who is a naturopath and midwife, very into metaphysical/spiritual stuff - said that it's actually very common for older pets to pass while their owner is pregnant. She said Molly knew that I needed to pour all my love into my new baby and that it would be harder on me if she passed when I had a newborn.

t

That's very interesting as I had one of my fur babies pass when I was pregnant with DD. And I just figured it was some sort of cosmic exchange that maybe I had to loose Delilah in order to get Jade. That Kittie wasn't old though she had feline aids and died of pneumonia complications. We also had a really ancient old cat that was DHs that I thought would pass when I was preg with DD but she hung on til after DD was born and looked after DD every day and finally passed when DD was 9 months. She was 21 and a half. The night before she passed she actually curled up next to DD and slept there all night and wouldn't leave DDs side. She didn't go off and hide. She passed on the floor just a few feet away from DD the next afternoon. I* was actually terrified when I was pregnant with DS that is loose another furkid and when Malachai got attacked by the pit bull I used to have I was so scared that Is loose him too again in some sort of cosmic exchange.
