Hello,

I post elsewhere on JM, but I wanted to drop in and say Hi here

I'm 27, married, have 2 boys (ages 4 & 3), one girl (12 months), and have another on the way.

I like to crochet (among other crafts), although I learned from a book and have never followed a pattern, and don't really know what stitches I'm using half the time  I wondered, can anyone tell me the name of the stitch that is very tight and is often used to make stuffed animals? I suspect from looking at some online patterns that it's a single crochet, but is that right? I thought it looked different...

Thanks!

I know alot of amigurumi (small stuffed animals usually crocheted in the round) are done with a SC . Here is a link to some cute free patterns.

I just ordered her book and the little animals are easy to make and work up fast with a small amount of yarn.
I will try to help you if you have any questions about following patterns . Basically just take it one small step at a time and all the stiches are in abreviations. Just let me know and I will try to help you out with that . I was once where you are now you get better at it with practice just like crochet.
