cry out

My baby yesterday was fine until I would lay her down then she would wake up crying as soon as I would pick her up she would stop. She is two weeks old is it to soon to let her cry it out?

I can't remember how old my oldest two were when i let them cry it out...and I was trying to figure out the other day because Corie continues to do that when we lay her down...so hopefully someone can answer the question for the both of us! :)

At this age CIO isnt very appropriate, they are crying because they need you! Even if its just for cuddles.

With my daughter I usually have to hold her for about 10 minutes of solid sleeping time before I lay her down. If that doesnt work I throw her fleece blanket in the dryer for 5 mins or so and swaddle her in it before I lay her down and that usually helps.

Corra has been doing this too. It's exhausting, but I know she needs me right now. I wouldn't let a baby this young cry it out. They are too little to understand and it sends a lot of negative messages to the baby who is trying to communicate an important need (cuddling is important at this stage). Hang in there, it will get better!

Too soon! She is crying because she feels secure when she's being held. She just spent 9 months essentially being held, so it's a difficult adjustment for some newborns. It will pass, but until then, maybe try a sling or carrier so you can get things done. good luck!

I agree with the other ladies that it is too young for CIO. I do try and let DS sleep for a while before I set him down. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I'm exhausted too, but I keep telling myself its not forever.
