Pumping Question

I usually don't get more than enough to fill up one tube (2.7 oz) when I pump. I am exclusively breastfeeding and trying to pump in between feedings. Is this low? Should I be concerned? She is gaining and always content after breastfeeding.

Re: Pumping Question

I think that sounds reasonable. Is that after pumping both sides or just one? I usually get about 3 oz per side.

That is both combined:( but up until yesterday she was still nursing every two hours morning and night from both breasts. Now she is doing 4 hr feedings sporadically and sometimes only taking one breast. I'm hoping that continues because it gives me more time to pump. I'm trying to stock up for when I go back to work.

Re: Pumping Question

If you are nursing, it's totally normal to only get 1-2oz when you pump.

I am EP'ing, and I get 2-4oz per side, per session, which is low for me since with DD1 I used to pump 3-5oz per side. I have NO clue why I'm making less this time, but I'm still making about 35 ounces per day, and she's only taking 24....so I'm good!

I think you're doing fine!

I think you're fine. Things to keep in mind: do you pump right after feelings? Does she eat a lot, I.e., how long does she nurse per side etc

I try to wait until the 4 hour naps to pump and then I pump at the 2 hour mark. That is when I get the best results.
Usually she actively nurses for about 10-15 mins and then pacifiers/what I call "just hanging out" for as long as I will let her. I try to get her to finish off one side before moving to the other. If she does this and is satisfied then I pump the other side.

Oh yeah you're fine, and honestly if she's full and happy, then you should not worry at all.

Plus remember that you will be pumping instead of nursing while you work so you will likely be pumping what she eats each day and then using your stash as an emergency cover. I was so worried about having a stash with DD1 and never thought about the pumping instead of nursing factor. I had hundreds of 6 oz bags of milk that needed a new home after I stopped nursing DD1. It sounds to me like things are going just fine for you. I wouldn't worry either.
