Nicknames?

What nicknames, terms of endearments, or other catchy little numbers do you call the baby? Do they happen for a reason, or just because it pops out of your mouth?

*************************

We call Josephine:

Jo...obviously. It's after my grandma who was also Jo (for JoAnn).

As well as: Sassafras (no idea where it came from), Alowishous (something my moms mom called her, my mom called me, and just sorta followed on down, pronounced Aloe-ish-us), and Chipmunk (have you seen her cheeks?? Lol)

We call Peyton:

Sweet P
Sister
Sister Moon (something my mom called my sister and I)
Baby girl

Oh and my sister calls her Peytor Potator, lol!

Re: Nicknames?

Michael gets called Misha, Mishka, barbarian and dictator (in Russian), and all sorts of ridiculous diminutive forms of adjectives that don't really have English equivalents.

Re: Nicknames?

Kaeldra's "official" nickname is Kei (pronounced "Kay") or Kei-chan. It's much easier for Japanese people to pronounce than her full name. Sometimes we call her Hungry, Hungry Hippo. I also call her the regular stuff like sweetie, sweetie-pie, cutie-pie, baby, etc. When she's doing her crazy thrashing around act while breastfeeding, we call her Shark-Mode Kaeldra.

I call Caroline

Little Bit

but mostly I mimic how Natalie says her name so it comes out like Care-wa-line.

I call Natalie "lou" but have no clue how we got to there.

"Chan" is an honorific in Japanese, along with "san," "kun," and "sama," and are each used for different situations. So instead of saying "Mr./Mrs./Ms. (Last Name)," "(Last Name)-san" is what is normally said in Japanese (except when referring to oneself, in which case no honorific is used). "Chan" is usually used for children, and is often used after nicknames. :)

Re: Nicknames?

I'm making such a point to use his full first name (Arthur vs Artie) right now because I think he'll have his whole life to be called Artie etc.

We do however call him:

Little Man
Little Boy (DH calls him this all the time)
CHunky Monkey
Bebe
and on my blog he is regularly refereed to as Baby Bumpkin. My blog is The Country Bumpkins | Living life with a country twist! , get it!?
