Hips
 
Anyone know of a good way to slip down the hips? I seem to be stuck with my huge hips :( I've never had huge hips before so it's not my bone structure it's just from being pregnant and having a baby go though my usually petite body.

All the stuff I read on MFP always says you can't spot reduce, but I think squats and lunges would definitely help to tone which would naturally slim them down.

This is coming from a girl with huge hips to begin with though...I found they've helped me rein them in though.

yeah you can't really spot reduce but you can build muscle so that as the fat comes off from losing weight they'll look slimmer and more toned.

I have a big frame, especially in my hips so I think I'm mostly stuck with mine.

The girls are right, you can't spot reduce. (darn) You have to have a caloric deficit to lose weight, and exercise will help burn fat and built muscle which will give your body a better shape.

Also, don't expect your hips to ever be as small as they were before you had your first child. Pregnancy and birth change your body in ways that are permanent. So just because you were petite before, doesn't mean you might not be a "pear" now. :) :)

I agree with the other girls, although it sucks, you can't really spot reduce. I found that the squats really helped to slim my hips down once I lost some weight though.

I agree on the spot reduction but the shape of my hips started changing when I started lifting weights. My body fat went down a lot in my legs and I think that helped with the overall shape/tone of my legs and body really. I think doing squats (either with heavier weights, or with lighter weights and lots of reps will help). Plus doing things that help burn body fat all around.

I dunno I have always naturally had wide hips....and they got wider after I got pregnant....but they have slimmed down with me loosing weight squats are great! I am hoping running helps too..we'll see with that though
