A few questions...

Dh and I have been trying to decide if we are done or not. My biggest reason for being done is I do not want another hospital birth, but I am not sure it would be a good idea for me to have a home birth or birth center birth. Do any of you have any resources that would help me figure out if there is chance I could have a safe birth out of a hospital? I tried to google it, but I just kept finding articles that were pretty much trying to scare people into the hospital. I jut want to be as informed as possible before I make up my mind. I did contact a local home birth midwife, but she hasn't gotten back to me yet. Any books you could recommend? Any other advice for someone looking into a home birth or birth center?

Re: A few questions...

I think the decision to have an out of hospital birth is a personal one. Depending on how you want to interpret the stats and information can affect a person's view of how safe they feel with an OOH birth. There is some great information out there though, and I strong encourage you to look at it all. I do think some of it depends on your midwife - I felt very at peace with my decision to have a home birth once I found a midwife that I really felt comfortable with.
