Hurricane Irene

How did you make out?

I'm in North Jersey so we had alot of tree damage and flooding in the area. My house did OK - no flooding and such but we lost power on Sunday the 28th and only got it again this afternoon. Went 6 1/2 days without!!! Not fun. I still have a few friends waiting for their power to return. I wish that on no one.

Re: Hurricane Irene

We lost power for about 18 hours. Mom was out for about four days, since she lives in a rural area. Irene had been downgraded to a tropical storm well before she hit here, so we got some beastly winds and a bunch of rain, but nothing terrible. A bit of tidal flooding. Honestly, it really wasn't bad here.
Work is another story. Our regional distribution center is in eastern MA. They got flooded out. MILLIONS of dollars in electronics, gone. Our store is lucky - we source from two different warehouses, so we've been getting (small) deliveries - but South Portland and Bangor haven't gotten warehouse shipments since the storm, and it's gonna be at least another three weeks before they get any more products in. We've already dropped our on-hand stock to minimum and sent our extra to Portland, but their store is barren. It's like walking into a going-out-of-business sale, the shelves are so empty.
