When do you feed solids?

I'm struggling with finding a good routine with feeding solids, and George is really uninterested still. I'm wondering if he'd do better if I could get my act together and be more consistent?

So when do you feed solids? Right after a bottle/breastfeeding? Regular family mealtimes? Halfway in-between feedings? Other? And how many times a day are your LOs eating solids?

Madilyn just decided a couple days ago that she wanted/would try solids. She still won't take them from me though...it has to be somebody else that feeds her. When I try to feed her, she goes into hysterics and turns away. It's weird. We're not even breastfeeding anymore, so I'm not sure what the issue is there. So far, she is getting her solids at school around lunch time, in between feeds. Carrots have been her favorite. She HATED cereal (rice & oatmeal) and she shuttered after every bite of sweet potatoes. She ate a couple bites of avocado & peas, but she downed the whole carton of carrots with barely any mess at all, lol.

Sean gets them about an hour after a feed, usually in the morning.

I was actually just going to post a similar thread because I really want to stick to the "food before 1 is just for fun" but am unsure how to do that while ensuring he is learning enough about foods to start weaning him and reducing nursing sessions around 1 year. I'm probably over thinking it, though.

Meghan has her bottle when she wakes up around 7ish, then has cereal mixed with fruit for breakfast around 9-9:30. Nap afterwards, bottle at wake-up around 12. Nap from around 2:00-4:00, bottle on wake-up. Veggies (sometimes mixed w/cereal, sometimes not) when we eat our dinner around 5:30-6. Last bottle b/f bed around 7:30-8.

I give Eve solids when Riley is eating lunch and again when he's having supper. I used to be make sure to nurse her before giving her solids, but now I don't worry about it so much. It doesn't seem to change her nursing schedule.

I had to play around to see what worked for Jonah. First I tried at dinner time and about an hour after I nursed. He did great then he became uninterested. Then I switched to the morning and again...did great then uninterested. Then I tried 2 meals a day which did not work at all. It was too much. I stopped solids for a few days then tried again. In the evening in between nursing sessions and he seems to be doing great with it now.

That's kind of what I was thinking, too...I know it is just for fun now, but I want to expose him to a lot of foods and have him be in a bit of a habit pattern with eating. Maybe I just need to experiment more with different times of day and see what works.

Just starting off, I feed him after I BF, before I eat dinner.
