indoor/outdoor cat to be an indoor cat only

does anyone know any tips on how to get an indoor/outdoor cat to be an indoor cat only? we are moving from my parents house which my cat can go anywhere and outside (farm type land) to an apartment building and our apartment is only one floor pretty big but I am worried about my cat not liking it and getting stressed/depressed....

i was in a similar situation. when i was growing up i lived on the outskirts of town, and had a young cat and an older dog. the cat and the dog basically left each other alone so my kitty could go anywhere in the yard she wanted to. when i bought my own house and moved out, i took her with me, but i was moving to a different town, in the middle of town and i didn't want her out running anymore.

i got her lots of toys/activities to keep her busy inside, but there are still times that she is gunning for that door and i'll occasionally let her out on the front steps. she rarely goes out further than that. and something will spook her and she'll run right back in.

it's going to be a hard adjustment, but be patient and guage how your cat is responding to a new place and being indoors. it may be benificial to leave kitty with your parents if she isn't adjusting well.

Raising her at home as an indoor cat rather than be an outdoor cat. Indoor cats are gentle.

The biggest things will be making sure to keep your cat stimulated. He or she will absolutely have a bit of an adjustment period, and will likely feel bored/stressed at first being stuck inside. Just be sure to give them lots and lots of extra play-time and burn all of that extra energy and he or she will get used to it sooner or later. Long-term it will be much safer.

Just make sure that your apartment is supplied enough with toys so that your cat would not get distracted or bored.
