breast pumps

For those who are/ are planning to bf, supplement, or pump...
What kind of breast pump do you use/recommend?

I went back to work for awhile when Tanith was 4 mos and I used my Medela Pump In Style. The one that looks like a backpack. A friend sold it to me for $50 (I know! A steal!) and I LOVED it. It was a double pump, so I didn't have to pump as long, it has adjustable suction, adn it stimulates how a baby suck longer and slower at the beginning of the feed to trigger let-down, then becomes more regular. It's also battery powered or you can plug it in, so very convenient. I will likely use it this time to leave bottle for babysitters, or if I decide to donate breastmilk.

Kelty - I agree with everything that PixieQueen said about the Medela Pump...I have the style that looks like a purse or sholder bag, and I LOVE it...It works very well. I bought mine from the store for around $300.00, but it is def worth every penny. Later I was told that some DHS locations offer the pump at a lower cost, or free depending on income though, so you might want to check that out....I wish I had know that before I bought mine.

Don't waste your money on anything but a Medela pump. They may seem expensive but this is a time when you get what you pay for. They really are awesome.

Yep, the pump in style is the gold standard, and nothing else compares.

If you are WIC eligible you can get one for free if you work! (I missed out by 30$ a month :()

I agree with what the other ladies say, I had the same one that Sam has and I do like it, I had some problem with the first one I had, but they are sending me a replacement so I will have one at work and one at home
