Lack of movement but heartbeat? Update

So literally since like 2pm yesterday Ava has barely been moving... She usually is super active at night and in the mornings. Today I have felt nothing. So of course I get my doppler out and I can find her heartbeat BUT she just isn't moving!

You think I should wait it out maybe another day since I am getting a heartbeat or go to L&D?

Update

So I texted my husband about all that happened and he told me to wait till he got home before I did anything... So I did he got home around 4:30 and we ate around 5:30. I specifically got a Sprite to see if we could get her moving. Well I sipped on that Sprite for the hour and finally she started kicking! Big kicks too! You could see them from the outside! She is also kicking while I wrote this. It was over 24 hours for movement though... I'm gonna call my OB tomorrow and tell them. I also just barely woke up and could barely breathe so I started to cough and then I just randomly threw up. My husband woke up and was like completely shocked. It shocked me! So my stomach is now upset and I'm having BH contractions. So I'll be mentioning that tomorrow too. Maybe she was pushed against my stomach which caused me to throw up? Idk but it was no warning and very scary.

Thanks for all your guys awesome responses. You are all the best. :)

I always vere on the side of caution, so I would get it checked out now. Have you tried anything to get her moving? You know the drill, cold water, juice, chocolate....small meal, etc? If you poke her, does she move at all? I know sometimes they can do this, my girls would go maybe 12hrs with little activity at this point, but I always felt a little something, and always picked up after the 12hr mark.

Might be a growth spurt. This happened to me alot and it freaked me out too. I would go get seen, because it's always better to be safe than sorry. When ever they got the monitor on me at the hospital Peter picked back up again, he was not a fan of it!

This happened to me with Alex, I was 32-34 weeks, I tried all the tricks and nothing, I ended up calling my dr which told me to go to labor and delivery. Once I got there and they hook me up to the machine, he started moving. Try all the tricks first, if nothing, call your doctor's office, they might tell you to go to L&D

Re: Lack of movement but heartbeat?

My doctor told me that prior to 28 weeks it is still common to have whole days or more where you don't feel the baby. They are still small enough to get into spots where they may be moving, but you just can't feel it. Especially depending on placenta position. She told me not to worry about kick counts until 28 weeks. I have anterior placenta this time, so I literally would go days with out feeling anything for several weeks and it freaked me out.

Hi fellow anterior placenta friend! It happened to me the other day. All day with nothing, then I checked with the doppler, and the baby started moving and the hb was fine. I had a few days of not too much movement, but yesterday and today, it's moving a lot more.

All I can say is thank God for the doppler!

Re: Lack of movement but heartbeat?

I agree with alot of what the other ladies said. I also know that not feeling movement can be very stressful because that is our reassurance that everything is ok. Try some of the tricks Lori mentioned and if that doesn't work call the OB. Hearing the HB is a great sign that things are most likely fine and you are still so early baby is just tucked away somewhere being all snuggly and warm.

I would also err on the side of caution. All of my babies did that to me, and I always called...except once....

I really don't want to scare you, because most likely things are fine and baby is just growing, especially with it being so early (technically you're not even supposed to be kick counting until 28 weeks), but it never hurts to call.

I'd also call to be on the safe side. I hope all is well and she's just tucked away playing hide and seek with you!

This happened to mrpe the weekend before last. Cody went almost a whole day without moving. I called myob and they had me come into l&d. They had a hard time finding us heartbeatat first. They finally found it and he started kicking right after. I hope she starts moving for yu. If you try all the tricks I would call.

Re: Lack of movement but heartbeat?

I agree, do the tricks that are known to produce movement and if still nothing, make a call.

Re: Lack of movement but heartbeat?

Everything is probably OK, but if you have decreased movement even after drinking something cold and sugary, then you should call your doc and be checked, even if you have fetal heart tones. I had no movement and went to the doctor, the doctor checked and found my son's heartbeat, so he patted me on the head and sent me home, and my son died sometime that night. I feel like such a schmuck saying all this, but I would rather that than not say it, it you know what I mean?

Re: Lack of movement but heartbeat? Update

I am just seeing this, I am glad all checked out okay! I had the same thing happen to me a week ago. I felt so sick to my stomach, I never vomited, but the pain in the top of my belly was so bad, I could barely move, I was having lots of BH and baby wasn't moving. I tried drinking cold stuff, eating a little...the minute I called the doc, LO started moving away, I also had to lie on my left side to get the movement going, so I had to leave work early...

It could also be that she was doing a shift change - changing her sleep pattern, my friend had that happen to her, she went to L&D, they monitored and they said it was probably just him changing his sleep patterns or as mentioned above, growth spurt.

Let us know what the doc says when they get back to you!!
