Cookery Books

How many cookery books do you have in your house?

Any by famous chefs?

Any which focus on one specialist aspect of cooking?

What's your favourite one?

If you don't have any, where do you find new recipes? Online?

Oh goodness...I have about 30. Many of them belonged to my grandmother, and I saved them from being thrown out when my grandfather was moving out of their house after she passed away. I love that they have her little personal notes and recipes stuck in them.

I have a couple of gluten-free cook books, and a couple of Thai cookbooks. I also have a few microwave cookbooks from the 80's that belonged to my mother when microwave ovens were a new thing.

I don't use the cookbooks often, but occasionally I'll get them out and go through them for fun or inspiration. I LOVE them, though, even though I don't use them much...I like to see them in my kitchen cabinet. Normally I get recipes from the internet. :)

30, wow, that's a lot! I think we have about 10, total. I have one by Jamie Oliver and one by James Martin, two of my favourite TV chefs, and I have made things out of them. I also have a specialist chocolate cook book, Mexican cook book, and vegetarian cook book. I tend to make things out of a cook book every now and again and they just become part of my repertoire so I can't remember which book they came from. Quite a few of the books have sticky pages lol!

Indeed! I wouldn't have nearly as many if I hadn't rescued my grandmother's books. Of course, she didn't have the internet to turn to for recipes, so I'm sure she used them far more than I do. ;)
