Re: Do you cover for mass?

I do. Not really out of a personal conviction though - I cover because it is the tradition at our parish. Our parish priests have asked that women cover their heads and I feel it is not hard for me...

Re: Christmas Mass?

No, I understand fire code stuff and overcrowding - I can imagine saying "I'm sorry, the church is at capacity, you cannot come in" but saying "I'm sorry, you don't have ticket and so you can't come...

Re: Christmas Mass?

We went to the 8pm on Christmas Eve. I have never heard of needing tickets! Do they turn people away from Mass if they don't have a ticket? I understand that parishes get really crowed at...

Re: How do you give?

My friend is married to a priest in the Byzantine Rite. It seems like it would be a very hard life to be married to a man living out two vocations!!

Re: How do you give?

we write a check and put it in our envelope - then once a year we get a receipt from our pastor for tax purposes. If we forget one week or go to a different parish we just write the check for double...

Re: Baptist with Questions

I would really suggest you read what and why the Church teaches what She does - the links Shawna provided are good. I would also suggest Humanae Vitae. The Catholic Church's teachings on human...

Re: Tradtional Latin Mass

I also just wanted to add that I think I had quite an advantage in that I was able to attend the Old Mass and study the missal and really solely focus on the Mass for 3 whole years before any...

Re: Tradtional Latin Mass

I love that the priest faces the altar - I love that he is leading us in prayer - that we are all facing Jesus together and it isn't like the priest is talking to us. If the priest has his back to...

Re: Tradtional Latin Mass

We pretty much only go to the Old Mass. We almost always go to the low Mass as well because the High Mass is later in the day and we go to the 9am. I have a 5 year old, a 3 year old, a 1 year old...

Re: Manager fired for fleeing armed robber...

I am a huge fan of "at will" employment. Employers should be able to fire people for whatever reason they want - it might not be the best decision morally but legally it should not be restricted.

Re: Your kids

They all know the sign of the cross although our 22month old sometimes uses both hands :) I'm actually not sure about the Our Father - they say it with us but I've never tested them to see if they...

Re: Are people becoming co-dependent on the government?

No, I do agree with you - I do think many, or maybe even most, vote that way. i just have a problem with saying "everyone" - it really isn't everyone. It is certainly true that I think about how...

Re: Are people becoming co-dependent on the government?

Why is a rude question? You said everyone votes that way. I could have assumed that you yourself would be included as part of "everyone" - but instead I decided to clarify. So, basically you meant...

Re: Are people becoming co-dependent on the government?

This is about the most depressing thing I've read in a while. Do you vote this way? I can guarentee you that not everyone votes this way. I would guess that many people do as we all know there are...

Re: Are people becoming co-dependent on the government?

I agree. At this point, I think it makes little difference if we get the Rep or Dem as the next POTUS - they both support government intrusion and tons of government control in our lives. Until...

Re: Pediatrictions decide boys are better off circ'd than not

I hear what you are saying but I disagree - I think that applies to things like how people put their babies down to sleep - on tummy or back. As experts opinions change so do parents actions. With...

Re: Pediatrictions decide boys are better off circ'd than not

These discussions always crack me up. Let's be honest folks. It is a cultural thing - end of story. The vast majority of people who circ do so for cultural reasons and then often try to come up...

Re: One-Way Tolerance

I get that - and this is a whole other issue. I was just pointing out that ending, preventing, and dealing with abuse issues is a much bigger priorty for some faiths - it just may not be so obvious...

Re: One-Way Tolerance

I can only speak for my religion - the Catholic Church - but it is much more of a priority. All you would have to do to see this would be to look at how much money, time and manpower is being spent...
