Re: Was it hard for you to find a vbac-friendly doc/midwife?

My midwife told me immediately after my CS that she would support me in a VBAC if we have another. So it shouldn't be a problem.

10 minutes from one, 15 from another, both allow VBACs

Re: Pulling on the baby and placenta.

I've never had any of my midwives (I've had three different ones) pull on baby or the cord/placenta! It never even occurred to me...

Re: Doulas

I did not nor felt I needed one for the first two deliveries. Baby #3 I had a strong desire/instinctive feeling that I should have one, but that feeling didn't show up until about a month before...

Re: Did you

Mostly supported or indifferent. The negative comments mostly turned into an open discussion/education for the naysayers. I also don't tend to get offended by negative comments.

Re: Natural Birth, painless?

What helps me with pushing is waiting. My body takes over the pushing on it's own and heaves my babies out in about 1 minute with little help from me!

Re: Natural Birth, painless?

Mine certainly weren't painless!!!

I've heard good things about TENS machines, but never used one. Its basically low level electrical current applied to specific areas.

I thought laboraide was...

Re: home birth after c-cection

If we have another baby I would plan for a HBAC. Have three prior unmedicated natural deliveries (including a homebirth), it seems like a reasonable decision.

Re: Do you feel that your c-section could have been avoided?

completely necessary and unavoidable. Had a placental abruption at 35 weeks with no labor in sight and baby failing BPP.

Re: How far dilated were you when you had your csection/or were you?

Mine was due to a placental abruption too (at 35 weeks). I was no where near going into labor and basically bleeding to death, so c/s it was.

Re: Water birth

First baby I labored in the water, delivered out of the water (in the hospital, not allowed to birth in the tub)

Second and third were planned water births (one at a birth center, one at home)

Re: Could I Be Pregnant?!

Ovulation is probably going to be based off your actual period, not when it was supposed to come. So if you started AF Nov 10th, your likely ovulation date wouldn't be until the 24-30th. It is...

Re: New Here. Emergency C Section May 2013

My story is somewhat similar. I had three completely uncomplicated vaginal deliveries (no meds, no IV, nothing) including one homebirth. Baby #4 was a planned homebirth. But at 35 weeks I woke up in...

Re: What anesthesia did you have during your c-section?

I had a spinal, worked immediately and took a loooong time to wear off. Normally I have to have extra pain medication at the dentist, but it didn't seem to be that way with the c/s. I think it took a...

Re: Did you Birth Plan?

I've never had one. With my first (hospital birth) I do kind of wish I had one at least for post-partum care. The hospital kind of sucked on that end. Baby 2 and 3 were out of the hospital and...

Re: How to spend your time in early labor?

I've never really had early labor. My first two I went straight into active labor. Third I did have prodromal labor, so I guess that could be considered early labor, but I just went about my normal...

My water tends to break during pushing. My first the midwife broke it a few minutes before she was born and said it was really hard to break and she thinks my baby would have been born en caul. Kinda...

Re: Home Birth, birth plans

I didn't. My midwife knew what I wanted. I figured just about the only reason I would transfer to a hospital is if there were a medical problem and at that point most of it would be out of my hands....
