Re: After-school activities

Not much. We homeschool, so "after" school actually means "during" school for some of our activities. For sports, Ben's in bowling league & scouts, and Daniel's in gymnastics. Aside from that,...

Ben (7, technically in 2nd) - School is kicking his butt this year. He's unofficially in 5th grade, and although he's enjoying the challenge of learning so much that is new, he's not enjoying the...

Nope... not without doctor's orders! Too much can damage teeth and organs. My ped tests for common deficiencies after the age of 5. My oldest son takes Rx vitamin D + calcium (adult strength), but...

Re: What to do when a child constantly slacks and is so SLOW

If you know for sure nothing else is going on, and you see this as a pattern rather than a bad day, I suggest two things that have worked well for us: (1) natural consequences, and (2) make a...

Re: This should be interesting

Sometimes, I can only dream of this, and I feel a little jealous. I don't think I'd ever actually do it, though. It would really help with time to do work, house cleaning, Bible studies, etc., but...

Re: When is your first day?

We started July 22nd so that we can take a week (or more) off every 6 weeks. We'll end up with around 36-37 weeks of school, half-days each.

Ben (5th-ish, officially 2nd): R&S Bible 8, Reading...

Back to School Monday!

We're starting back on Monday! I can't wait. Daniel can't wait. Ben's not so enthusiastic about school in general, but he can't wait to start American History, so at least that's something.

We take a short summer break (about 6-8 weeks) for summer camps, traveling to visit family, etc. We'll start back on July 22nd with a 6 weeks on, 1 week off sort of schedule this year.

Re: Hi fellow Homeschoolers!

Welcome! Where are you? I'm near Austin. I haven't taken an extended break (other than summer), but a lot of people do that. It's not a big deal... especially in Texas.
