I wouldn't use Eli and Ella together myself, but I don't think they're that bad. They're more similar in look than sound, since Ella doesn't have the long E sound.

Aaliyah and Cambria are worse...

I like it and knew how to pronounce it, though I'd expect some confusion occasionally. It's not as over-popular as many of the other Br- names like Brianna and Brinley (and all its spellings).

I think the spelling could be confusing. There are a lot of ways to pronounce the combination 'ae,' so it could be AY-ven, EE-ven, or EYE-vin.
