Awol

Sorry all. Been off the board pretty much this last week, and will be again for another week. Our 6yr old iMac is freaking out and almost useless now, which is most aggravating for my music lessons,...

Re: Sciatica?

I have this off and on ever since the 2nd time I fractured my coccix. My bone doesn't tuck under me quite as much as with most people, and the scar tissue along the fracture line has caused the bone...

Re: Sun info...

One thing to bear in mind is pregnancy melasma, or "the pregnancy mask". (Pretty sure that's what it's called.) Might want to check it out, I think there are a couple of articles on JM that mention...

Loving that we made it this far! There was a point a couple of months ago that I honestly didn't think we were going to get a living baby this far along in pregnancy, but here we are! We've passed...

Re: "Fluffier" moms and dopplers

I'm 5'2" and 149lbs. Put on 3 with baby so far, but still about 20lbs over where I probably ought to be for my height and build. And I have had NO problems finding heartbeat. One time I posted here...

Re: Big babies

No, both honey and I were average sizes. I'm the 5'2" lady and was 8lbs 4oz. He's the 6'5", strong and broad man and was born 7lbs even... But he put on weight quickly, ate all the time I'm told, and...

Re: Fruit of the week Club!

It's to do with length and weight, rather than thickness of the fruit.

Re: Gardening :)

FYI for anyone who cares, tomatoes grow really easily simply planted in a cheap bag of soil from the garden center. Who needs a pot! Carefully make a hole in the bag and plant directly in. It should...

Re: Gardening :)

Yes! We spent our Saturday in the garden. We put in a large 2ft high raised bed this year, so planted in that, plus more in another large plot on flat ground in the garden.

Raised bed:
Bush...

Re: Fundal height

OK. :) I guess I need to do some research on this... My MIL probably has some books I can borrow, or my local midwife friend.

Re: Quad testing

(Please understand, my post earlier was not intended as a judgment. However, for any of those out there who share my particular viewpoints against abortion, I want to request that I and they are also...

Re: Need some advice (esp. from mamas with previous losses)

I've had miscarriages, not stillbirth, but personally I've always appreciated hearing the good but tough news of someone else's pregnancy in person, or at least in a personal, private way, where I've...

Fundal height

Okay, I'm not...worried... Just a little wondering why...

Just finished midwife appt. Am just over 14 weeks now. She was pleased with growth but said my fundal height measures about 13 weeks... I...

Re: If my belly had a draw-string

70% of your immune system is in your gut, and it's so important to keep it healthy. Have you tried taking a digestive enzyme or probiotic tablets to help cut bloating?

I'm not bloated but I...

Re: people can be rude.

My first baby, that I carried all the way through 1st tri, was definitely only one baby and I had a smaller bump then than I do this time. And I got asked a couple of times if I was expecting twins....

Re: speaking of rude people....

Oh..my...goodness... WOW. I'm amazed an OB nurse could be that stupidly insensitive. Would have thought they'd know better!

Yes, I think you should. She needs to hear that comments and...

Re: Quad testing

I realize that I approach this from a Christian viewpoint. However, there is one question I think you should ask yourself -- if you were told your baby has Down Syndrome, would you abort? If for any...

Re: Sick - what can I take?

Try raw honey separately from your tea. In liquids, honey just becomes sugar and loses the medicinal value of raw directly on a sore throat. Take it from a singing teacher. ;)

If you can add...

Re: Trying to keep my figure...

Throwing in an alternate view... Calorie counting is not necessarily the best thing during pregnancy. If it helps keep you from eating high-calorie foods which are not sound nutritional choices...

Re: A little freaked out! (Nosebleeds)

Ditto this again. Both should help. Depending on where you live, you might also try a little vaseline up your nose to help sustain moisture for healing -- I'm in AZ and sometimes the humidifier alone...

Re: Newborn Cloth Diapers?

Okay, so this may be my first child at home, but I've done a lot of nannying so I'm going to chip in again here!

Liners -- can be a pain, depending on what the child is fed. If breast milk, it's...
