I taught public school is several different states and they all taught cursive. Some expected kids to write in it all the time and some just taught it.

I did teach it when I taught second grade...

Re: Answering the "No school today?" question from strangers.

There are a lot of people that homeschool around here and it hasn't been much of an issue. They usually seem impressed or interested in what it means to homeschool. There have been a few negative...

Re: Are you on track?

I plan everything. I told myself I was going to relax this year and not plan so much, but I just can't do it! I do plan less than I did when I was a teacher, but I have to have a daily, weekly,...

Re: cursive!

That's good to hear. It was not important to me when I was teaching public school, but the book we are using at home really stresses slanting them. But Ady wants to make them nice and neat and...

Question cursive!

Ady started cursive and while she is getting the formation of letters down, she is having a hard time slanting the letters. She makes them so straight! Any suggestions for getting her to slant them?

I don't get one and I don't think Ady is going to get one this year either. I think they are BS (but that's just my opinion). The only reason I have made Ady in the past is because DH thinks they...

Every part of being with Ady all day.

Being responsible for her academic and social development. (Everyone has their opinions about how to homeschool/raise her and I get tired of hearing it all!)

Re: clothes

Ady won't wear them. She prefers "comfy pants" as she calls them. I try to buy the cute, glittery jeans but she still won't wear them. I don't think I am going to bother buying any this year.

Re: Kindergarten Math recommendations

Ady went to public school for kindergarten and they used everyday Math. As a teacher and a parent I can suggest you don't use that. It's terrible. It never really teaches anything, it just reviews a...
