Re: Wwyd?

I had to sit my mom down for behaviour similar to this. It went pretty well though. I reminded her that when we were little HER mother would try to give us candy and my mother would insist it be put...

Re: when/if you you've night weaned...

how old was LO? He was 16 months old
what method did you use? Nothing in particular. He was pretty much weaned during the day (his choice mostly, he's always been very independent) and had one and...

Re: "It's this or nothing"

I allow my kids three things they don't have to eat. Not three things every day but in general. DS hates eggs, so I don't make him eat them. I will continue to serve them to him on occasion since...

Re: Whining!

We have a language issue going on here too. He's learning both English and French at the same time so I think that's where some of the frustration is coming from. But even when I do understand him...

Whining!

Hi all,

I used to be here more often but haven't been around in a long time. For those who don't know me, I have a ten (nearly eleven) year old and a two year old and was AP before I even knew it...

Re: More issues with not being gentle

Ha! I have not been on JM for months and months but decided to come poke around today and fell upon this. Mariah, once again our kids are at exactly the same place! :)

I don't know how to deal...

Re: Full of questions today! Pacis and toddlers...

Listening intently to your advice....Edward is 21 months old and needs not just one paci, but one in his mouth and one in each hand in order to go to sleep. Can't wait to throw them out!

Re: Your parenting style vs. your upbringing

I was born in 1973.

My Mom was a hippie.

She went to Woodstock.

She INVENTED AP. Though I guess they didn't have a name for it then.

I've always wondered that I wasn't named Rainbow or...

Re: do any of you use a nightlight in the room for little one?

I leave the hall light on until I go to bed, then I turn it off. There is a nightlight on all night in the bathroom though for my eldest. They have no lights in their rooms.

Re: Second child vs. first child ... for BTDTx2 (or more) mamas

My second was WAY easier also. There are a couple of contributing factors to that though. Mia was definitely a high needs baby, Edward is relatively easy going. And the age gap between them is...

Re: Bedtime routine book or poster?

Agreed. I don't do it either, I use more of a "mantra" approach. As bed time approaches I reaŕpeat the steps verbally: we'll be going for a bath soon, then jammies, and vitamin, brush teeth, then...

Re: Success stories with older kids - please share!

Well, my memory is getting fuzzy, but it was definitely NOT at 2 or 3. Mia skipped the terrible two's then laced into us with what we called the "thunderous three's" :)

I think the first signs I...

Re: Need advice (and a rambling vent)

I have no suggestions but I don't think you should feel like it's your fault, even if she was sick for a while. If there is something wrong, it's not because of anything you did. Hang in there.

Re: Just have come to the conclusion

Shari, so there with you. Mia is in grade 4. Bored to tears. Wants to come to school with me instead! I tried grade skipping, but "we don't do that anymore" since the reform. And it wouldn't even...

OH my,

I know I haven't been here lately, but I do check in once in a while. Shari, I am so THERE with you. I have the double barrel, so to speak, because I can see things from both sides, as a...

Re: Hmmmm...fitteds

I know what you need. I had the exact same criteria. A high rise, no stuffing, trim in the crotch and trim all round. And I'm an old pro, I was 100% fitteds and covers with DD, just started using...

Re: Cloth wipes

I've use this: Fill a spray bottle with water, add 5 squirts of baby's bath soap (we use Earth Mama Angel Baby) and about 15 drops of tea tree oil. I spray it on the wipe before using. The soap...

Re: Great article on setting limits without raising a brat

I love that article! I've been toying with the idea of writing a book about "Parenting by expectation" or something like that. Kids will absolutely live up to your expectations, no matter what they...

I LOVE telling new AP mom's about my daughter. She's amazing, but wasn't always....

Mia is 10 years old. Last week I went to pick her up...
