Re: we had a good run....but now i need weaning ideas

Sometimes placing a bandaid over the nipple will work for some. How often is she nursing now? Slowly weaning will be less stressful for both of you. Start with one nursing session per day and...

Re: Breastfeeding with Implants

It is a good sign but it's not something you will know until you are there. I would line up a good lactation consultant who is familiar with implants to help you and monitor your supply for the first...

Re: Pumping after nursing

It can depend on many things. I would make sure you have a good pump and use the proper sized flanges. Also, what are your goals for pumping? Are you trying for a small stash for occasional use or...

Re: Need support! Some questions!

When you say his has cranky spells, can you be more specific? Is he just nursing more often but calms when breastfed or is he sometimes inconsolable? If he seems in pain while cranky, it could be...

Re: Need to stop breastfeeding...feeling awful.

There are very few medications that are incompatible with breastfeeding and most will say not compatible but Dr. Hale is the leading expert and has done tons of research on medications. He is the...

Re: Help!

It depends on what type of manual pump you are using. If it's a Medela pump, you have 6 different flange sizes. If you are using a Hygeia, they have 4 different flange sizes. If you it's another...

Re: Help!

Can you see a lactation consultant? I would have latch assessed and fit for flange size for a pump. It sounds like there may be some kind of infection going on that needs to be treated as well. If...

Re: Raynaud's

You may be more likely to experience Reynaud's in the nipple because you have it in other extremities but it doesn't mean that you will automatically. It's just a wait until it's here kind of thing. ...

Re: Maverick's 1 week check

Does he have an upper lip tie? Did you know what one looks like? Posterior Tongue Ties and Upper Lip Ties pretty much go hand in hand.

Re: how often do you breastfeed?

Feed on demand at least 8-12 times per day. Sometimes babies will eat every 30 minutes and then every two hours and then have a really long stretch of sleep. It's all normal. As long as the urine...

Re: Saw a Lactation Consultant today

Sorry, popping in here. I'm a LC too. Did your LC check the baby for an upper lip tie or tongue tie? Posterior tongue ties are hard to spot so one has to be familiar with them to spot them. ...

Are they sore all the time or just during nursing?

Has the appearance changed? Any redder or pinker? Flaky?

Re: Need advice

I would definitely pump both sides while you are at work. The pump will never stimulate you like the baby does so I would be worried that your supply would go down. If it starts to produce an over...

Re: Breast Pump

It also depends on the pump. It's safe to get a closed pump system like Hygeia but Medela's are open pump systems.

Re: Update on meeting with IBCLC

40819 for maxillary lip tie, 41115 for lingual tongue tie. Medical insurance said these were valid even if performed by a dentist and not necessarily another type of provider.
