Honouring the departed
As Hallowe'en/Samhain is a traditional time for honouring your lost loved ones and ancestors, do you do something special for them such as lighting a candle or saying a prayer at this time of year? What about visiting grave or memorial stones or leaving flowers or gifts?
Do you do it on Hallowe'en, or All Souls' Day/Day of the Dead?
Do you set a place for them at table on one of these dates?
Which of your relatives do you honour, or do you do something to honour all your ancestors in general?
Re: Honouring the departed
We light a candle for my dad on Halloween, and a further candle for our less recently departed relatives and ancestors, thanking them for all they have brought to our lives and inviting them home for the festive season to impart their wisdom and blessings. This year I may also sit Daniel down with his grandad book and have a bit of memories time, and find a nice prayer to say for my dad.
