Supplements

Hi ladies! Question: Are certain brands of supplements better than others? I've been taking daily otc prenatal vitamins, Doctor's Best CoQ10 800 mg and NOW Foods Alpha Lipoic Acid 250mg. We're about to undergo IVF and my RE prescribed specific vitamins from Theralogix, which are basically prenatals and coq10. His prescription vitamins/supplements are a good bit more expensive than the ones I've already purchased. I'm feeling guilty for not purchasing his recommendation, but really not looking to fork out more money.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks!

Re: Supplements

I'd print off the ingredients from the Theralogix vitamins just to make sure you aren't missing something that you need, but I'd keep taking what you already have. In my admittedly cynical opinion, your doc probably gets $$ for recommending fancy vitamins to you and they aren't much better than what you can buy at Walgreens.

So excited for you that you are gearing up for IVF again! I hope all goes well...keep us posted!

I just take OTC prenatal and Dr keeps wanting to RX me all this other prenatal expensive stuff. My insurance doesn't even cover most of it. I am sticking with the OTC.

Re: Supplements

some supplements are better than others, but not necessarily all. Lash is really the most knowledgeable I think on this board about specific brands of supplements for certain things, but supplement research is still very new and harder to find out info on.

Re: Supplements

Thank you all so far for your responses!! Printing out the ingredient list is a great idea, thank you Melissa! I'm pretty cynical myself, especially after all that I've done. I've eaten pineapple, not eaten pineapple, had accupuncture, not had accupuncture, stressed, not stressed......and on and on and on. I'll probably just continue taking my amazon.com stuff unless someone has some extraordinary advice/research info that's new to me.

Lash, I look forward to reading your response!
