Interesting articles from this week

Interesting things I read this week...feel free to discuss!

A woman who faked a twin pregnancy and the stillbirth of said twins:
The Munchausen Mom: How one woman fabricated the pregnancy

A blog post from a woman who is angry she is having twins after IVF:
I'm Expecting Twins -- and I Feel Like I Ruined My Family | Babble.com

Article about how eating a big breakfast can really help women with PCOS:
Big breakfast diet could 'boost fertility for PCOS women'

I can't even with the fake twins. Real-life trolling. You're doing it right.

The twins thing, just no. She was pretty much shredded in my 2000+ member Facebook group. But we aren't all that kind to whiners

Glad to hear you both say that the angry twin lady pisses you off, too :) I totally get that having twins can be scary and overwhelming, but she is just being ridiculous. I hope she adjusts her attitude pronto before those babies arrive and she takes her resentment out on them :(

LMAO I like the tags on here.

The first story, absolutely tragic. My heart hurts for those poor children subjected to those parents. OMG I can't even begin to think of what she did to them.

The woman pregnant with twins f&#k you. I'll be there at the hospital to adopt them.

PCOS diet - I've always had larger lunches than my dinner but I can't eat anything before 10am, I could probably manage a piece of toast and that's it.

hmmm.. I could handle a big breakfast every day.. but I really hope I don't have pcos.

Twin lady makes me angry. Yeah twins are hard... but you took the risk, now stfu and deal with it.

Fake twin pregnancy lady might make me even angrier!

Okay...I only read the first article so far! That lady has BIG issues. She was poisoning her one son so that it would seem he needed a liver transplant, claimed her other child had cancer, and another child had other problems. OMG! I can't even begin to fathom this whole situation. Disgusting.

I had to stop reading the article about not wanting twins after transferring two embryos. I can't handle it.
We transferred two & I am thrilled to be having a healthy baby, I did mourn the loss of the other embryo for a little while, especially since my betas were so high and pointing toward two.
I just couldn't read any more of that lady's negativity when there are so many people who would love one baby and be overjoyed with twins!!

As I read the article of the ungrateful lady with twins, I sit here almost 6 months pregnant with twin boys. While I read they are kicking me and kicking each other and reminding me that they are there. I have no idea in the world how that lady can feel the way she does. Specially going through infertility and treatments. I suppose she said it in the very beginning, " We wanting a sibling for our son but not really another kid for us.". Really? It breaks my heart that IVF would work for someone so ungrateful but not work for others. I totally get being freaked out about how in the world this "twin" thing even works. I am there! Everyday I wake up and my belly is bigger, but I didn't think it could get bigger. Everyday I am afraid of pre-term labor and sick babies. BUT - a big FAT BUT - I am grateful and so honored to be pregnant and specially with twins. I want to punch that lady in the head!

I can't even read that other article on the sicko crazy lady.

The crazy lady fake twin article is horrible! But I cannot let go for the crazy parents with the IVF twins! I had to go so far as to read the dad's article (that started the whole thing and sparked the mom's article) and I have to say that - for me - the dad's article is even worse!!! I just read practically the dad's whole article to my husband who just deemed the guy "the biggest dumb*** ever" since both the mom and dad say they knowingly placed two embryos! These parents are already so negative towards the innocent boys. It makes me so sad to think how they will be when the kids are born! :(

Re: Interesting articles from this week

I probably had less of a reaction to the angry twin mom than everyone else did, because I sort of understand where she's coming from...we wanted to avoid twins too, but were prepared that it was certainly a possibility and if it happened then we'd deal with it. I think she's the type of person who has this vision of how her life (and her children's lives) should be and has trouble when life deviates from her planned script, and now that it has she's worried & fearful. However, she needs to move past this and fast before it impacts the kids and how she treats them...it was wrong to have children simply to give son a sibling if that was truly their only reason and they would have otherwise been just as happy to have no more children - we wanted to give Savannah a sibling too, but you should WANT the child regardless, not do it as some sort of sacrifice for your older child. While it'll be painful for her, she needs to adjust her vision of how life should be - even if that means less $ for trips, college, whatever - to deal with her new reality...I get that that's hard, especially if you've worked to achieve a specific lifestyle, but lots of people have done it. I read her husband's original opinion piece when it came out - it was very similar - and I just hope they move past their regrets about IVF and it doesn't morph into resentment toward their twins once they arrive :(

I can, on one hand, understand her point of view. It sounds like she went into the process with the wrong intentions anyway. Well not exactly wrong but inappropriate perhaps.

She wanted Hawaii and got Alaska. That's life. She needs to suck it up and deal with it. For her sake and her family's sake.

What makes me most sad is that these twins might read what BOTH parent wrote about them :(

Re: Interesting articles from this week

The twin mom who "ruined" her life really upset me. I was nervous about the prospect of twins, but at the same time excited. When I found out we were only having one, I was relieved but disappointed at the same time. I just can't imagine going through all of the pain and struggle of infertility and then being ungrateful for such a gift. The only thing I could think to explain this was that she must be clinically depressed. I hope she gets help (I know she said she was in therapy, but it seemed like she might need additional interventions) and that her children end up feeling loved.

Re: Interesting articles from this week

The resentful mother of twins especially bothers me too. We are expecting twins, and while I'm having tons of questions and fears, I would be so devastated if something happened to one of them. We have seen them several times through ultrasounds, and they already seem so different. Baby A is more laid back, and baby b is all over the place. We have 7 frozen eggs (and maybe this is my pregnancy hormones), but I can't stand the thought of letting them die. I have two boys and was hoping for a girl with this pregnancy. We had thought about trying one more time if we didn't get a girl, but I think twins is realistically all we can handle and this is it. However, it is killing me to think of the other 7 not even having a chance at life. I think its' to late to donate them to a couple, but I would be very interested to see what our other options are.

Lash August 30th, 2013 03:50 PM

Also the fake twins weren't stillborn. She said they breathed.

KMH August 30th, 2013 04:14 PM

Re: Interesting articles from this week

You're right, Lauren...they article specifically used the term "stillborn" but that doesn't match her story about them breathing. It is hard for me to fathom how someone could be so ill that they would create a life like that for themselves...so sad for her family.

Re: Interesting articles from this week

I have to agree that the dad of the IVF twins is a bigger ******* than his wife. I swear he implied he hoped something was wrong with one of the twins so they could terminate one :eyes:

Speaking of trolls I am going to the bat cave with a question...

Why do you think it's too late? I know a lot of people would adopt them in a heartbeat :)

Re: Interesting articles from this week

Leah, that is great news. I wasn't sure if it was to late because we didnt do the extra testing in the beginning. I was under the impression the only thing we could do with them now is to keep them froze, discard them, or donate them for research. I will have to research how the adoption process works. That would be so wonderful.

You can easily make a match and offer them to someone. Then that person either comes to your clinic or pays to have them shipped to them.
