Article of the Week: Why some embryos implant and others do not

Interesting article! They are working to figure out why the uterus rejects some embryos and accepts others...hopefully continued studies like this will help complete many more families.

How uterus checks embryo reveals why some do not implant

Hmm... very very interesting.

A friend passed me the article this week about steroids and rpl... I'd offer to be a short term guinea pig for that study for sure.

Very interesting article! Definitely gives food for thought.

Good news that is! That is the one piece of IVF they can't seem to force - the implantation. If they can get that part narrowed down and success rates for IVF will sky rocket! :)

Things are headed in the right direction :)

I love when they figure out more things to help!

I love modern medicine! I have thought for awhile that our problems could be implantation related, since our eggs and sperm are all good.

I wasn't sure why I was prescribed a steroid for after transfer, but it sounds like it may have to do with the theory mentioned in the second study.

Oh interesting... Is that why?
I think that was the only med I didn't look up

I was giving some anti rejection medicine for my transfer but nothing with this hormone they are talking about.

Hoping they are really on to something... My only fear would be with higher success rates the price being higher too. :(

what a good read ,im hoping it will help a ot of woman in the future as they seem to be finding out more and more, that can only be a good thing ,but have to agree about the price it is a gravy train of money for the doctors ,

Wait what is a gravy train? The meds or the procedures?

Re: Article of the Week: Why some embryos implant and others do not

Well if they can figure out a way to produce this Trypsin Enzyme that they feel is required for implantation then the implantation rates should be higher. That is how I am reading it.

I just can't figure out what Vicky is meaning about the gravy train part.

All this research costs money...

Re: Article of the Week: Why some embryos implant and others do not

Neat! Maybe they can at least develop a method for determining which embryos are releasing trypsin as a way to choose which embryos to transfer. That would be a good first step!

Re: Article of the Week: Why some embryos implant and others do not

I think Vicky is referring to the gravy train being what Gretchen mentioned... with more success rates.. the cost would most likely increase...

KMH September 20th, 2013 06:54 PM

So you wouldn't be willing to pay more for a higher success rate? Researchers and scientists shouldn't be compensated for these revolutionary discoveries/medicines? I get annoyed at the cost of IVF sometimes, but my RE, embryologist, and nurses worked hard and gave up holidays and weekends to give me a family...they deserve to be well-paid!

I was just trying to help clarify the gravy train reference well what I thought she meant ;) Honestly I would pay as much as it took to complete my family so was not trying to step on toes...Sorry was just trying to help....

Sorry if what I said sounded harsh...I wasn't directing it all at you. Just wanted to give kudos to the researchers, drs, ect. who help us!
