Luteal Phase, what's normal?

Looks like mine is 16 days based on my last 2 cycles. Is this normal? Good? Bad?

16 is within the range of normal, which I *think* is 12-16?? Under 10 is bad. Mines 8

What does the length of time matter?

As far as I know 12-16 days is "average" but needs to be a minimum of 10 days to sustain pregnancy.

It's got to do with hormone levels and giving the bean enough time to implant. If your LP is too short, it means your hormones drop too early which won't allow the bean to implant.

What if it were to be 18 days? What would the impact be?

"There is little information that suggests that a long luteal phase can result in infertility or miscarriage, although studies on this subject are not readily available."

What Is a Long Luteal Phase? (with picture)

All the things that I have read always said that a short LP is a problem because of the Corpus Luteum breaking down too early, which in turn causes your progesterone to drop too early. Never really heard of a longer LP being a bad thing TBH, maybe just annoying.

Hmmm, I am curious as to how you know your previous cycles were 16 days? Tried to look at your chart there aren't any temps at O time

I think the only problem is with short LPs. I had short LPs when TTC#2 and I had to medicate to be able to lengthen them. The egg doesn't have time to implant if your LP is too short. Sorry that AF showed :(

Re: Luteal Phase, what's normal?

Thank you for all the info ladies. I swear I have learned more about my body from y'all then in any bio class I have ever taken. This sure is complicated! I'm still frustrated with last cycle. We did everything correctly. BD on the right days, took my vitamins and folic acid, my luteal phase is a good length, I ate healthy, I was active... Maybe installing my kitchen floors was too stressful on my body. I hate trying at something, giving it my all, then failing. FX for next cycle! If we get a BFP, it would be on New Years day! How's that for an awesome way to start 2015! I can't wait to hear what Cheri22 has to say!

speaking of Cheri22, Have you heard from her yet?

Re: Luteal Phase, what's normal?

I got a message from her on FB, that's how I first contacted her, that said I would be getting an email yesterday saying I will get an email when my reading is scheduled and what information I she will need. I'm not sure if that means I have to talk to her on the phone at a certain time? Hope not, with my schedule... How about you?
