Hello,
I was talking to a friend of mine the other day and she was telling me that her form of birth control was using the pull-out method. I told her that she could get pregnant and she said that she was being careful. How many of you out there used the pull-out method and got pregnant? Tell me your story. Thank you so much!!

I was told by a specialist I was infertile, we were using condoms and I still got pregnant.

DH and I used the pullout method for awhile before I was on BCP, the first or second time we had sex (ever) we got pregnant -- but I miscarried. But I would also like to say we were stupid about pulling out and he only barely pulled out ( we were young and stupid, I was 16-- he was 15) enough to call it pulling out.

After that we still used Pull and pray but not for long because we decided not to have sex for a year

you know what? There are plenty of couples that it works for.. but they're not usually teenage/early 20's. It's usually adults that know their bodies a little better and have more control. Either way.. pregnancy still happens. She could definitely get pregnant.. so if she doesn't want to.. I would point her in the direction of the nearest planned parenthood.

(it's definitely not a form of BC that I would recommend to anyone..)

Of course your 'friend' can get pregnant with this form of 'birth control'.

Just lurking over here...My husband and i use this method for 9 months before i got pg with my dd and i got pg with her only because he started not pulling out. We still use this method and i havn't been pg so far. But lately he has not been pulling out. So its a possibility if the guy doesn't have good control.

Just a lurker.
But your "friend" can def. get pregnant using the "pull-out" method.
I did!
There is pre-ejaculation, that most men can't tell is coming. It just happens.
If you are a good "friend" and really care about this person point her in the direction of the nearest planned parenthood and get some b/c, most give it for free and no one has to know, not even her parents.

There is always a chance for pregnancy, even on b/c, the only way to be 100% (and im sure you have heard this before) is to abstain.

Personally i never got pregnant using the pull-out.. Eventually we just stopped pulling out because we talked about it ALOT and fully understood what the results could be- and 20.5 weeks later- here we are-lol... But like others have said- there is sperm in the pre-cum. And thats not something that a guy can control. So if they dont want to get pregnant then they need to use a more responsible form of control.. And you might not have a planned parenthood place close- but there are usually free clinics that work with them and you can get either the pill or the shot for free also they give you a butt load of condoms-lol (which i really dont recomend the shot) my friend has been off of it for 4 months and still no period....

That is exactly how we got pregnant with # 2 within 2 months.. the pull out method is not effective if you are trying to prevent pregnancy.

no form of birth control is 100%.... Accidents DO happen....

I was using NFP (natural family planning) - i've used it for ages, successfully. But then I got a nasty virus/flu type thing and it must have thrown my cycle out of whack...

Sure it works!! *hides DD#1* Really, it does *hides DD#3* Yep. :sarcasn:

I did, we used that method for about 2 months and I now I am about 6 weeks along.....Sooooo, don't trust it!

We used the pull-out method, and here we are with a beautiful little boy! Yeah, it may have worked better if we were sober most of the time (we were big partiers back in the day), but yes, you can definitely get prego using po method!

My husband and I used the pull and pray for 3 years. We consciously made the decision not to about 4 months ago and here I am about 5 weeks and some change preggo :) Was it safe? No. We were just ready to have kids if Someone blessed us with them, and we understood the consequences. If your friend isn't prepared for a baby she should definately get on some B/C and her SO should use condoms. No BC is 100%, and doubling up is the safest way.

Dragonfly_Belle October 26th, 2007 11:38 AM

If your friend is not in a serious, committed relationship, she shouldn't be having unprotected sex to begin with. Pregnancy shouldn't be her only worry.

mousemomof3 October 27th, 2007 10:17 AM

remember the pull out is not fool prove. Guys pre ejaculate which means some of the sperms sneak out before the big O. So I would say your friends could be preg. Is she late , has she tested.

mrsdismang November 4th, 2007 04:25 PM

pulling out is not birth control. End of story.
