HPV or Human Papillomavirus is the name given to a group of over 100 related viruses. A virus is a very tiny organism that requires special microscopes to view them. Viruses require a host cell. When the virus acquires its host cell, it then takes over that cell, reprograms it and it then reproduces more of the virus. Since there are so many strains of HPV, each strain is given a number.
