Making Baby Food. Apricots and Blueberries.

I went to the Farmer’s Market a few days ago and picked up some yummy produce to make Fletcher some more baby food in my Beaba Babycook. This session involved making apricots and blueberries.  Both of these had to be thickened with rice cereal.  There is a step by step of the apricots.  I boiled the blueberries for a few minutes until soft, and pureed them.  I drained most of the water, but added some cereal to thicken it.

  • woah, wait a minute. That thing cooks AND purees…. Where did you get it??? I MUST have it! 🙂

    Are the purees pretty smooth, or can they be kind of lumpy? Does it cook harder fruits like apples pretty well??? I’m in amazement! Why didn’t I have this six months ago?!?!

  • Yes, that is why I got it since it did everything in one fail swoop. The puree consistency is up to you. I have made pretty chunky steamed carrots, I just hit the button quickly and they were in tiny bits, not completely smooth.

    It cooks apples great, I made applesauce with some yogurt and my son loved it. You just need to add more water to the reservoir and steam longer, 15 mins for apples or hard fruits/ veggies.

    I got it from Williams Sonoma, but you can find it online as well. I love it, couldn’t live without it now!

  • I am totally buying it. Even though I don’t have a baby eating baby food right now. I can honestly think of a ton of things that I could use it for besides baby food!
